The ideal candidate will be willing to travel to local nursing homes where our hospice patients are located to participate in facility activities. Some activities may include: musical performances, ice cream socials, arts and crafts, bingo, and so much more. Elara Caring Hospice, a local hospice agency based out of Toledo, is looking for individuals who are willing to make crafts for our hospice patients and their families. Specifically, we are looking for someone who is able to sew to put together "t-shirt" teddy bears. Teddy bears will be made from one or more of our patient's t-shirts and will be given to the family as a cherished memory of their loved one. Elara Caring Hospice is looking for passionate teen volunteers in the Pemberville area who want to make a difference in the lives of our patients and their families. We are looking for volunteers to spend time with patients in our care at local nursing homes and assisted living facilities. These visits focus on providing companionship and emotional support to our hospice patients in need; there is no physical care involved with these visits. Students can also visit with patients through participating in facility activities such bingo and arts and crafts. Hours are very flexible including weekdays or weekends in the mornings, afternoons, or evenings; even a couple of hours a week or month spent visiting patients would mean the world to them! We are willing to accommodate any busy schedule.
