Would you recommend The San Diego River Park Foundation?
They ate very informative in the email but , unfortunately, I ended up having to work that day and could not volunteer)-:
Fun&Benelovent. While you’re helping clean up the environment, you’re also exploring nature around you. There were moments where I would stop, look around and just be happy with the sightings around me. Plant seeds floating all around you, sun peeking through all the tall plants, it was a pleasant experience for me.
Friendly organization! We had fun painting the signs; the only issue we had was during cleanups at the point loma nature park. We had to leave abruptly because a homeless woman had wandered into the area and obsessively fixated on my child to the point where she was following us around mumbling things at him and it made us extremely uncomfortable.
Great environmental scientist/guidezms. Personnel were very helpful and informative. Overall experience was great. Recommend for outdoor enthusiaist.
overall great experience!
It was fun! I was astonished by the amount of trash nearby the tiver especially in this area around mission valley. Everyone was friendly and helping each other. I had alot of fun and I would highly do this again next month!
Can't wait to come back! Staff are very helpful and polite.
it will be an amazing experience
Great organization. Made the event quite enjoyable to volunteer for. Will definitely be looking to join them another time!
This was an amazing experience not only for myself but for everyone I spoke with while helping out. Everyone was eager and people there have already helped out with this organization. It was nice to hear everyone calling each other by name and I can't wait to do something like this again!
It was a very simple way to make a difference for the environment. The staff was very friendly and informative on what we were doing. Felt like it was a good use of a Saturday morning. Very gratifying.
Greeted with a smile, knowledge of the area geology and plant life. Equipment to do the job.
Happy Group
SDRPF is friendly, organized, has the materials on hand, and brings a lot of good people together. This agency also provides connections to local environmental groups. I'm excited about their many projects and their vision for the river.
I have recommended this organization already to many people who care about helping in the community and value having a clean and healthy river in their city. As a volunteer at many of the SDRPF events over the last two years, I have appreciated the enthusiasm of the staff not only for the various projects they are undertaking, but also for their volunteers whom they acknowledge as central to their work. To find out more about the SDRPF you should go to their great website that explains their vision, records their many successes to date, and outlines upcoming activities.
SDRPF is a caring, supportive and exciting group! I've worked on several projects with them and it is always so much FUN! (Especially the murals!) I love the interesting, professional, non professional, environmental, single, married, young, old, (middle aged!) diverse people that come out for these things. Everyone has always been friendly and I always come home, tired, happy and very much fulfilled, from my days involved with them!
I have volunteered hundreds of hours with the San Diego River Park and with several other conservation groups. San Diego River Park Foundation is TOPS! They are well organized and efficient. All of their efforts go directly to helping save the River and improving public access. We have removed more than 1,000,000 pounds of trash and thousands of invasive plants. Each month, volunteer teams test water quality and survey the watershed to keep track of the improvements and warn of any emerging problems. It is a fun organization with lots of dedicated, talented and interesting people of all ages, working toward a common goal of preserving and improving the San Diego River watershed. Come join us!
I have volunteered for many projects for the River Park Foundation. Everything from their river cleanups, water testing, community gardens and restoration projects and more. The reason I keep coming back is because the projects are important and meaningful as well as fun and there is a lot of variety. The staff is always so appreciative of our work and they really have it together as far as organization and planning. The River Park people seem to really know how to host events, after all they host an average of 10 volunteer events per month. If you are looking for some great ways to give back to our environment and a chance to learn about our local ecology give the river park a try, you won't be disappointed.
I have worked with a few volunteer organizations in my life and have been most impressed with SDRPF. I am amazed at how passionate the staff is about their goal to clean up the river and surrounding areas. They work long hard hours to organize the numerous groups and events and you can tell that they all love what they do. It's truly inspiring and it keeps me coming back for more and more events with them! I most definitely recommend this organization for those of you looking to make a difference in your local community.
I have been volunteering with SDRPF at the wetland area at the SD River Mouth for the past year. This sensitive wetland is one of the last remaining areas of it's kind in the region. The project requires lots of weeding to remove invasive plant species that choke off the natives and volunteers realize that this process can be done only by hand. SDRPF has organized volunteer projects there every other month and it's a real pleasure for me to be a part of the leadership team there. The project is very well run and people enjoy working in the fresh ocean air. The volunteers can see first hand the results of their efforts. Most of them want to return to do more to maintain this beautiful area in its natural state. SDRPF is doing an outstanding job to facilitate volunteer participation to support this effort.
I have to tell you, this is the second time I worked with the volunteers and staff with cleaning up the San Diego River area. I helped with the clean up of the river yesterday and can not get over how organized, efficient and thorough the whole process was! The time spent was a lesson in efficiency and co-operation. The workers seemed as though they were on a mission, on making a difference in the community and the San Diego river. The staff was equally impressive in their direction and making the most of the time spent. I gave this Foundation five stars and I will be helping more, in the future.
The River Park Foundation has been facilitating community enhancing volunteer projects for 8 years. To date they have worked with thousands of volunteers and have removed nearly 1,000,000lbs of trash from the San Diego River, have created 2 community gardens, restored acres of habitat and completed 5 community murals and that is just a small example of the opportunities they have for the public to be involved. They really are always appreciative of their volunteers which is why they have many, many repeat volunteers coming out to help week after week. They also accept volunteers that have been required to perform community service both through school or the courts. They provide proof of service forms and always quickly respond to volunteer inquiries. Best of all, all of their volunteer projects are fun, meaningful and really give a sense of accomplishment. You also get to meet some really great people that are interested in helping the environment and the community.
My daughter & a friend needed to do community service for school. She took the time to email the organization about time, what to bring, how old she was, details. They responded they were happy to have them,& they needed the students for the whole entire 2 blocks of time = 8 hrs. My daughter agreed to do the entire time. When she & her friend arrived, the lady that checked them in informed us a parent needed to be there(NEVER mentioned in posting or email to us) & only PROFESSIONAL artists could stay for afternoon. THIS was not told to us either. They need 6 hrs to count for credit, but org said only 4 hrs since not pros. THis was NEVER specified in posting nor in email! The lady was rude, condescending & this was poorly advertised. Daughter gave ample opportunity for them to inform her not to do this, but they encouraged her. I would NOT recommend this organization's events as they are poorly organized, poorly informed,& their people are not knowledgeable about their own postings.
