To advance the independence, opportunities and quality of life for the more than 40,000 people in Pinellas County who are blind or visually impaired.

Description

Lighthouse of Pinellas offers training and support for those who are blind, visually impaired or have low vision. We serve children from birth to age 7, young adults who want to enter or re-enter the work place and seniors who want to live independently. Our Independent Living Skills course teaches daily living skills in the following areas: eating, kitchen organization, home management and safety, money identification and orientation and mobility. Computer classes are offered with special software that is adapted for visual impairment. Coping classes are offered for both clients and family members. Our classes are offered at no charge to our clients. Transportation is provided at a nominal cost through a special rate agreement. Referrals are accepted but not required.
