Have an interest in coding? Share your knowledge and manage interactive demonstrations in Discovery World, using Cubelet(r) Robot Blocks. Cubelets are a fast and easy way to engage children and adults in learning the basics of robots and coding by building modular robots from programed cubes. Help us enrich our visitors' experiences through engaging, STEM based activities! Facilitate experiences like the science behind mazes or snowflake design. These experiences will change monthly and highlight different aspects of STEM, as well as different STEM practitioners. All necessary materials, including supplemental topic information and activity instructions, will be provided to volunteers on the day of their first shift for a given project.

Tactile Outer Space Facilitator Our Tactile Outer Space table uses a variety of touchable 3-D printed materials to engage visitors with outer space. Originally designed to be an accessible activity for our blind and low vision guests, but anyone can enjoy these activities! Facilitators will help guests interpret the models, help guests access the Universe of Sound website via a tablet and assist in making pipe cleaner constellations. Training and background materials are provided. Tactile Outer Space Facilitators usually sit behind a table during their shift. Set up requires minimal lifting and carrying of materials. Do you love art and technology? Are you looking for an opportunity to help inspire creativity for younger generations?Come volunteer at Discovery World as our Doodle Buddy! Doodle Studio is a creative, hands-on experience where guests customize templates, then watch their drawings come to life in a vibrant, 3D virtual environment! Volunteers assist guests with scanning and bringing their creations to life while ensuring that the content displayed on the large projected screen remains fun and family friendly. DUTIES Doodle Buddies will help guests in the space by giving encouragement as guests color their templates, helping guests scan their template into the system, monitoring content on the templates to ensure it is family friendly and removing offensive material as necessary, and keeping the area generally tidy . QUALIFICATIONS Doodle Studio is on the second floor of our Aquatarium building near the Simple Machines exhibit . The area is lit with spots of artificial and natural light, and there is an ambient sound constantly playing. I t can be loud er depending on the number of guests in the space. How busy the area is depends on the day, with weekends being the busiest and weekday afternoons the slowest. This position will include interacting with our guests, as well as limited use of computer equipment. Training will be provided. This position includes periods of standing/walking but may be seated for portions of the shift. May include bending and twisting as needed for interaction and tidying .
