Mission Statement
The mission of the Oberlin Heritage Center is to preserve and share Oberlin's unique heritage and to make our community a better place to live, learn, work, and visit.
Description
The Oberlin Heritage Center, a non-profit, membership organization, is our community's historical society and historic preservation organization as well as a complex of historic sites that is accredited by the American Association of Museums.
The Oberlin Heritage Center tour program offers guided tours three days a week, with group tours available by appointment. Our basic tour visits three historic buildings: the 1836 Little Red Schoolhouse, the 1866 Monroe House, and the 1884 Jewett House. Main themes of the tour include life in 1830s-c. 1915 Oberlin, African-American history, the Underground Railroad, women's history, scientific discovery, and missionary, temperance, and other reform movements.
