Mission Statement

Lexington Pride Center works to create safe, inclusive spaces where every LGBTQ+ Kentuckian is celebrated and supported. LexPrideCenter works to improve people's lives in the sexual minority and gender-expansive community of Central and Eastern Kentucky by enhancing visibility, empowering community members, and educating the public about issues impacting the said community.

Description

Our objectives are:
- Educate:
The Lexington Pride Center offers community resources, a monthly magazine, social media, and a LGBTQ+ library
- Enhance:
The Lexington Pride Center organizes, participates, and collaborates in distinct visibility activities, such as Lexington's annual Pride Festival
- Empower:
The Lexington Pride Center spear-heads vital programming such as the Gay-Straight Alliance for Youth, discussion groups, and a safe environment at the Pride Center

This is a wonderful organization who has helped me in so many ways that I can't count them all. I am the recent outgoing Newsletter Editor. I volunteered to do the job and I don't regret one minute of it. I have meet some wonderful people who sent in articles for the Newsletter. Prior to this volunteer job I did various other jobs there such as helping to keep the doors open extra hours when the one paid employee couldn't be there due to other commitments. I have cleaned the Pride Center to make it look as nice as I could as if it were my home and I would be expecting guests. There are all sort of volunteer opportunites here if you are looking for them. Especially in the Festival, and fundraising for the GLSO itself so that someday we may have our own building and not have to paid outragous rent.
