Description

The Interfaith Community Shelter at Pete's Place has 3 primary programs: 1) the Seasonal Overnight Shelter (SOS), which runs from mid-October to early May. During SOS, VOLUNTEER GROUPS prepare and serve meals, help check guests in and provide a bunk and a sleeping bag and, most importantly, provide a sense of community for a population that has little chance to interact publicly; 2) the Summer Safe Haven for All, which runs from early May to mid-October. SSHA is a shelter for men and women during the warmer months. Lighter meals are served in the evenings, and Shelter staff primarily perform the tasks that volunteer groups perform during the SOS. (3) Finally, the Shelter provides a wealth of wrap-around services -- showers, clothing, lunches, navigation and referrals to partner providers -- during the Day Services Program, which runs year-round. VOLUNTEERS are a critical component of Day Services, as they prepare lunches, check guests in to the various services and providers, manage the shower, organize clothing and help guests in the Clothing Closet, etc.
