Partner with us in our Fresh Market food pantry by setting up the pantry, assisting shoppers, and making deliveries. Wednesday 10:00 AM - 2:30 PM Thursday 9:30 AM - 2:30 PM Friday 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Saturday 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM Wednesday and Fridays are set up days for the market. Volunteers would potentially help unload the food trucks, organize food, and set up the market. Assist in staging the market for distribution. This includes stocking shelves, sorting, and purging groceries by both expiration date & condition/health of the item, and cleaning the refrigerator. Thursdays and Saturdays are open market days. Volunteers would potentially greet guests when they arrive. Assist shoppers with their groceries, bag groceries, and replenish items as needed. Assist guests with their groceries to their cars. Saturdays also are delivery days. On every 1st and 3rd, Saturday of each month signs up to deliver groceries to our Seniors in the East Garfield Park community. Position Description:Volunteer Cook Accountable to: Food Service Coordinator Position Summary: The kitchen will assist the Food Service Coordinator in preparing and serving meals, storing food, and ensuring a clean and sanitary kitchen. Key Responsibilities: -Handle receiving and storage/refrigeration of prepared meals provided to agency by GCFD and all ingredients used in meal prep. -Ensure timely placement in cold storage until time for meal reheat or ingredient use. -Ensure the kitchen is clean and sanitary daily. -Handle reheat/ cooking and holding/serving of food according to safe food handling procedures and serving in proper portion sizes -Ensure proper oven temperatures for reheat using oven thermometer -Reheat food within required time frame and to required temperatures for food safety. -Hold food safely according to food safety guidelines

Volunteers will provide, cook, and serve a balanced meal to our guests staying in our transitional shelter program and join residents for the meal after everyone is served. This program allows volunteers to better understand issues of food insecurity, and nutritional needs of those experiencing homelessness and gives volunteers a chance to build relationships with each other, our staff, and those we serve. As a volunteer, you will help merchandise and organize the boutique space, and sort donations In this role, you will help process incoming donations. This may require them to be sorted by size, style, and season. This includes but is not limited to shoes and apparel and handbags and other accessories. Separation of such items will be placed in the women’s boutique or in the stockroom. Hours are flexible!
