Mission Statement

The Metro Mentorship Initiative (TMMI) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit public charity that provides wraparound support and resources to partners by helping their mentoring causes achieve sustainability and be viable in marginalized communities.

Description

TMMI primarily seeks to be collaborative with entities that facillitates mentoring programs for individuals (children, teens, young adults) from low-income communities. This organization was formed out of a genuine belief that mentoring initiatives must have sustainable resources and tools in order to effectively cause global change. Our agency will provide full-service support to partner entities that focus on serving kids, teens, young adults in four key pillars: EDUCATION, TECHNOLOGY, JOB READINESS/EMPLOYMENT AND PUBLIC HEALTH & FITNESS .

TMMI has been established in direct response to many social problems in the United States of America particularly in Chicago, Illinois. We’d like to help entities cause systemic change to solve issues including, but not limited to, the growing cases of fatherless homes, inner-city orphans and violence in impoverished neighborhoods.

The Austin Comets Athletics is a powerful organization that truly understands how to connect and mentor the youth. It was such a pleasure working with everyone and getting a chance to meet some wonderful people.

I was unbelievably surprised at the commitment that the Metro Mentorship Initiative, through the Austin Comets Athletic program, has to lift up at-risk youths in the Austin Neighborhood. They truly 'walk the walk' and live what they teach. I was lucky enough to find Coach Massie last year and participate with him and Coach Murray in the basketball program. Basketball is the vehicle, but mentorship is the goal. These men are inspirational to me, by both their actions and words. Again, they truly live what they teach. And what they teach is respect, pride, self-control, and leadership. I consider myself fortunate to have found a group making a difference. Yes, the basketball is great, and I love that part of it. But connecting with the kids is the key. And Coach Massie and Murray have created an environment that is safe for these kids to express themselves and build themselves into young men. This organization is outstanding, and I am honored to call these men my brothers.
