Mission Statement
Valley Village has provided services for adults with developmental disabilities in the San Fernando Valley for nearly 50 years. Our mission is to protect, foster, develop and advance the rights and interests of people with developmental disabilities. We manage 18 group homes and 3 day programs across the San Fernando Valley and have a variety of programs where you can make a difference as a volunteer either at one of our sites, or on one of our community outings around Los Angeles County. Since 1971, Valley Village, a 501(c)3 organization, has been a leader in building transformative programs that raise the standard of care for all people with developmental disabilities in the San Fernando Valley. With over 48 years of proven successes, our hallmark approach to a continuum of care for adults with developmental challenges continues to be an effective model for providing dignity, respect, and personal empowerment. Renowned throughout southern California for its dedicated staff, programming, and around-the-clock care, Valley Village serves over 400 men and woman with disabilities as a leader in the fostering, development, and advancement of rights and interest of people with developmental disabilities.

Signing up and communicating with Valley Village was easy. They sent out email reminders and simple directions to prepare you for your first day of volunteering. I joined on an outing to the Getty Villa where the clients did a scavenger hunt, and it was pure joy! If your feeling nervous because you have no experience with developmental disabilities, don't! There are plenty of experienced caretakers around at all times. It was my first time with Valley Village and I'm looking forward to signing up for more events.
