The heart and need of Caring Hands Thrift Shop are volunteers. As a volunteer at Caring Hands, you can help serve the community more efficiently. Volunteers help run the cash register, greet customers, and organize, price, and stock donations and books on the sales floor. Do you love creating warm and welcoming environments? Yes! Then, decorate our Yorkville Senior Center by volunteering for our Yorkville Beecher Activity Senior Center at Senior Services Associates! Volunteering for our center makes a real difference for seniors and the Activity Coordinator of the center. Senior Services understands fostering and adorning a warm, welcoming environment felt whenever one walks into the center is always a goal priority. When nurturing pleasant surroundings, we will impact seniors' physical well-being and mental health. Volunteers will also leave an impact on our Activity Coordinator. Contributing time to do seasonal decorating frees up time for the coordinator to do other tasks. It enables her to coordinate the evidence base programs that will create an additional impact on seniors. Volunteers in the Activity Center can also help with: Changing the bulletin boards Creating (or using already made) centerpieces and placing them on the tables Putting up and taking down various seasonal decorations throughout the building Putting away decorations into storage bins Dusting shelves and silk arrangements An ideal volunteer would be creative and able to work independently with little supervision. Volunteers with organization and flower arranging skills, who can cut things out with scissors, are a plus. The minimum age requirement for this opportunity is 55 . RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) of Kendall County is looking for someone interested in co-teaching health and wellness classes to seniors. Training is provided. You will co-teach health and wellness classes at the Beecher Center located in Yorkville IL. Once trained, the class dates and times will be scheduled around your availability. We are looking for volunteers to assist seniors in picking up their food from the Kendall County Food Pantry. The drive-through distribution will be on Thursdays from Noon - 6 pm. After picking up the food from the pantry, volunteers will take it to the senior. A background check will be required. Wonderful way to stay active, give back to the community and meet new friends. Duties include: answer phone, greet guests, send/receive e mail, data entry into Excel spreadsheet, make copies on copy machine, faxing, light cleaning, working knowledge of television sets, open and close blinds, organize files, light typing.
