All 2Life campuses host a variety of resident events throughout the year, and volunteer support makes these possible. Events may include holiday celebrations, dance parties, summer BBQs, and more. Event Support volunteers typically assist with setting up and cleaning up, serving food or beverages, assisting residents, taking photos, and socializing with residents who attend. We are looking for a volunteer who could assist with approximately 2 events per month, typically two to four hours per event. Please note that the majority of events take place during business hours (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm).

Program Summary: 2Life is in need of volunteers to help build residents’ confidence in navigating technology. Tech volunteers will provide one-on-one tech support in person in Computer Centers and in residents’ apartments when required. The tech mastery of 2Life’s residents varies; some residents are just learning how to send emails, while others are learning how to edit photos. Tech Tutors are not expected to solve every tech issue, they are asked to try their best! Location: Golda Meir House: 160 Stanton Ave, Newton, MA 02466 Key responsibilities: Meet with residents one-on-one either in campus Computer Center or in resident apartments. Train residents on using Computer Center PC computers, printers, and scanners, as well as Chromebooks and tablets borrowed by residents from 2Life. Train residents on using their own personal devices, which include laptops, tablets and smartphones. Establish residents’ tech mastery goals, train residents on technical skills, write out lists of steps for residents, occasionally troubleshoot residents’ devices at a very basic level, etc. Impact Goal: Empower residents to confidently access technology, participate in virtual programs hosted by 2Life, and connect with their loved ones and community supports. Qualifications: Volunteer must be 16 years and older for this position Bilingual in Cantonese or Mandarin Basic knowledge of computers, tablets and smartphones Experience sending emails, using a smartphone, listening to audio books, uploading photos, etc. Ability to explain tech terminology using simple language and in multiple ways Flexibility, patience and a good sense of humor Time Commitment/Schedule: Work with residents for 2-4 hours/week during business hours. Volunteer must commit to at least three months. Front Desk Ambassador's provide general reception services and office support by greeting and assisting visitors, answering the phone, and assisting with residents’ requests. Key responsibilities: Greet and welcome residents, guests, and visitors Provide administrative and clerical support to 2Life staff General reception services by answering the telephone, answering questions, and directing visitors. Enforce building security, as directed by staff Impact Goal: To provide a welcoming environment for our residents, guests, and visitors. Qualifications: Volunteer must be 16 years and older for this position Good communication skills, a good problem solver, and organized Friendly and with confidence to ask visitors to sign in upon arrival to maintain building security Bilingual in Russian, Cantonese, or Mandarin preferred but not required Time Commitment/Schedule: 4-6 hours per week during normal business hours (M-F, 9am-5pm). Volunteer must commit to at least 2 months and keep a regular schedule. Benefits: Work directly with all members of the 2Life community. Program Summary: We are searching for volunteers to support our art programs at multiple campus locations. Art assistant volunteers will support our Therapeutic Arts Coordinator to facilitate art programs. We are searching for volunteers who are passionate about art, willing to jump in to help, and have a desire to work with older adults. Locations: Opportunities are available at Golda Meir House (Newton, MA), Coleman House (Newton, MA), and Shirley Meadows (Devens, MA). Key responsibilities: Assist the Therapeutic Arts Coordinator with facilitating the program including explaining the art projects to residents, passing out and cleaning up art materials, answering questions, and providing one-on-one support as needed Socialize with residents Assist with reminder phone calls before the program begins Escorting residents to and from the art studio space Support other tasks as directed Impact Goal: The goal of art programming is to promote social connection for residents, and to provide opportunity for creativity and expression. Qualifications: 14 years of age or older Some art experience and an interest in creating art Willingness to help, flexibility, and patience Reliability Bilingual in Russian, Cantonese, or Mandarin preferred but not required Time Commitment/Schedule: Weekly 2-3 hours shifts on weekday afternoons.
