Food on Foot works to house individuals experiencing homelessness. Our program is designed to teach them life skills trainings such as financial literacy, employment development skills, and other day-to-day operations to enhance their current situations and set them up for long-term success and management of their lives. We need FRIEND mentors to connect with our program members and provide insights and skills in a one-on-one format to support their success in the areas of the program they are working through. FRIEND Mentors work in one or all of these departments to support our program members on their journey: FINANCIAL LITERACY: working with individuals on building and managing a budget, setting financial goals, financial planning, credit fundamentals, credit management, financial decision guidance, etc. EMPLOYMENT DEVELOPMENT: resume development, job searches, job applications, interview skills, general encouragement, etc. HOUSING SUPPORT: looking for housing in their general budget, what kinds of things to look for when searching for housing, how to connect with landlords and managers, things to be mindful of when looking at a home, how to manage their bills when they are in a home, etc. GENERAL SKILLS: time management, goals setting, conflict resolution, community integration, team building and support, etc. Training is provided and we have a strong team of Resource Coaches who are also connected to these individuals to ensure their successfully housed and that they have the resources and opportunities to STAY housed! This commitment requires just a few things: 3-4 hours per month and a positive attitude. Some knowledge that can be taught or communicated to others in any of the areas mentioned above would also be required.

Food on Foot has a small team that works hard during the week to collect essential food, hydration, hygiene and clothing items throughout the week to support the insecutities our homeless neighbors are facing in Los Angeles and Hollywood weekly. Every Sunday, we provide our donated items and distribute them to the most vulverable and underserved community members. We NEED help during the week to pick up some of these items. Can you help us make an impact with a minimal commitment? YES! We have partnerships with a few different Whole Foods locations that we pick up from on a rotating basis ( Beverly Hills, Culver City, Downtown or Fairfax) and it changes weekly) as well as a partner in the SFV called MEND (Meet Each Need with Dignity) on Thursdays from about 9:00 AM to pick up when there is product and drop it at our warehouse in Beverly Hills. This is a HUGE impact opportunityif you have a few hours a month to help support our small, but mighty charity. For more information, please contact Randi Waytt, the Director of Community Services, at randi@foodonfoot.org or via text at 661-313-9002.

Virtual Opportunity
Food on Foot is hosting it's annual fundraising gala in September - just a few months away. We are looking for a team to assist in outreach for silent auction items. This volunteer role would work with the Development Director for a few hours per month to help acquire donated items we could sell at our fundraising event. If you are someone who like to be in the action or silently on the side-lines supporting, this is for you. No experience necessary and training and guidance is provided. This role could also teach you a new skill in non-profit development!

Food on Foot serves the unhoused, low-income, and at-risk populations in Los Angeles with a unique serving program on Sundays. This is a high impact and low commitment option for someone looking to get involved, but doesn't have a lot of time. We need support on one Sunday per month (even though we serve every Sunday) to get some of our resources and supplies from our office/warehouse location at 5880 W. Pico Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90035 and transporting them to the LGBT Center on Schrader Blvd. which is about 4 miles north of the office ( 1625 N. Schrader Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90028). Ideally, we would be able to have your support one Sunday per month as the consistency would have a huge impact on our services. If you are interested in helping us with this, please reach out directly to Randi Wyatt, Director of Community Services, at 661-313-9002 or randi@foodonfoot.org.
