Are you passionate about education and youth? Would you like to make a difference in your community? Just 1-2 hours a week can shape a student's future. The Scholar Career Coaching Mentorship Program is designed to give students the opportunity to interact with passionate individuals who share similar academic and career interests. Students receive advice and assistance including but not limited to academic achievement, conducting job searches, interviewing techniques, resume building, finding scholarships, and improving English skills through casual conversation. Program Description Scholar CC motivates students to pursue an education beyond high school. We do this by providing complimentary hybrid college and career services including; group mentoring, scholarship assistance, standardized testing college admission fee waivers, FAFSA assistance, and SAT tutoring. In addition, we bring outside professionals and motivational speakers to share inspiring stories and to provide important community resources to our students. How You Can Help Students with adults in their lives who have gone through the process of applying to college or technical school have support in navigating the education system. Yet many students who are new to the US or from families who lack information about college or career pathways-struggle. We are currently in search of culturally informed caring adults to serve as volunteer mentors for our group mentoring program. Many high school students feel lost when it comes to deciding their future paths, but with the guidance of a mentor, they can confidently make informed decisions. Who We Serve Since our inception, the primary goal of the Scholar CC mentoring program has been to prepare and inspire high-potential First-Gen and English Language Learners 11th and 12th grade students attending Title I schools to pursue an education beyond high school. Whether a 4-year university or 2-year community college. Your Role as a Mentor Following our group mentoring model, each Mentor will be paired with 1-2 mentees for the program year starting in September/October and ending in April/May.
