Serving Those Who Have Served Us! We have Veteran patients all over the Upstate that would benefit and enjoy a visit from a fellow Veteran. Come join our team of dedicated volunteers who feel walking this path is both a privilege and a calling. How: attend Direct Patient Care Volunteer Training, and complete the application process. When: at times arranged by you and the Veteran and their family! Why: Make a goal to visit in person and call a minimum of twice a month.

Your service as a Licensed Massage Therapist with Lutheran Hospice Volunteer is one of the most rewarding ways to use your talents and time. We serve patients in locations around the Upstate, both in private homes and in facilities. Coordination of appointments are scheduled by the volunteer at times that are convenient for both with the patient, family and You. We would ask that you commit to a minimum of two appointments a month. Lutheran Hospice is seeking 11th Hour Volunteers to provide comfort and care to those patients who are in the passing process. No medical experience needed and volunteer training is provided. Team Goals include: Look at patients as people and not just see their circumstances. Listen as needs and desires change rapidly at this stage of life. Learn the value of your presence, even if in complete silence. Love others as well as yourself as you serve our community. Live with healthy boundaries so you serve for a long time. Lutheran Hospice of the Upstate is in need of volunteers to help in the office. Duties would include answering phones, filing, faxing and other helpful tasks. Our business hours are from 8am to 5pm. Greatest need is currently Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, anytime between 10am and 2 pm. Come help for an hour or stay for the full day! Parking is free.

Lutheran Hospice is a non-profit, ministry-based program serving people of all faiths and beliefs since 1995. Most of all, for staff and volunteers our work is not simply a job or service, it is a calling. Service as a Hospice Volunteer is one of the most rewarding ways to use your talents and time. It is our desire to build on your skills so that you feel confident as you walk with patients and families during this stage of life. Direct Patient Volunteers serve all over the Upstate, both in private homes and in facilities. Service times and days are flexible and scheduled by you the volunteer with the patient and family. Lutheran Hospice’s goal is to provide excellent patient care while meeting all federal regulations. Therefor we observe a comprehensive and secure process before active volunteering. No medical experience needed, and volunteers must be over 18 years of age, plan to serve a minimum of twice a month and for more than six months. In addition to the Application Packet and Volunteer Orientation the onboarding process includes, online training modules, background screening, flu vaccination and completing a two-step PPD and relevant paperwork all completed at our expense. Volunteering for Upstate Lutheran Hospice is like joining a big family. There is a huge support network for Volunteers at Upstate Lutheran Hospice. I recall visiting with a patient and seeing a nurse from Upstate Lutheran Hospice and she said, “thank you for all that you do.” The recognition she gave me made an indelible impression… like what I was doing mattered. The care and love they give to patients reaches everyone around them. This was one of multiple times I was thanked by Lutheran Hospice staff. Volunteers at Upstate Lutheran Hospice are supported, recognized, and valued.
