Mission Statement

At The Douglas Center we are devoted to providing the best possible environment for our intellectually/ developmentally disabled participants to engage in social interaction with others, volunteering in the community, outings, therapeutic groups and to increase vocational skills. We need the help of dedicated volunteers who are socially interactive and are dedicated to aiding others to achieve all of these things.

Description

We are a community day services program for adults with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities. We teach daily living skills, social skills, community skills and work skills. Our purpose is to teach the clients to be as independent as they can be.

Volunteers are needed to help in numerous ways ranging from leading activities for the clients (job skills, reading, social skills) to assisting staff with arts, crafts to exercise and music.

Everyone at the Douglas Center is so friendly and welcoming! I have been at the Douglas Center for a few months now, and I continue to have a great experience each time I volunteer! Great place
