Volunteer Tram Drivers with Tovrea Carraro Society are key to transporting our guests on tours around the 44 acre property. Accompanied by trained Docents, TCS Drivers are specially trained on driving the desert property in our trams. Responsibilities include: Assisting guests as they board and disembark from the vehicle; Driving guests around the 44 acres in a safe manner; Working with the Trained Docent accompanying the guests on the tour. Once an application is submitted, it will be reviewed and you may be contacted to attend a Volunteer Information Session. Fill out the online application: https://t.ly/rujcw After the Information Session, all potential Volunteers will attend a Pre-Training Session to assist in placement based on skills, interest and availability. Upon successful completion of the Pre-Training Session and acceptance into the volunteer program all potential Volunteers MUST complete payment of any training fees* and a background check prior to beginning training and placement. Please keep in mind that submitting an application is the first step in a selection process and not all applicants can be accepted into the volunteer program with Tovrea Carraro Society. **The Information Session does NOT include a Tour of the Castle** A background check is required, along with a $50 nonrefundable Training fee, due upon acceptance into the Volunteer Program. If you're interested in Arizona history and have a flare for telling stories, join our dynamic team of Docents today! Tovrea Carraro Society Docents lead public tours and share the myth, mystery and history about Tovrea Castle at Carraro Heights, a City of Phoenix Point of Pride and an historic landmark. Docents are currently scheduled for tours on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and/or Sundays. After certification, docents are expected to present at least 2 tours, each month, with a time commitment of 3 hours per tour. Volunteer Docent training for Tovrea Carraro Society is a 6 to 9 month process and includes tram driver certification and mastering the tour script through practice tours to hone your skills. This is an intensive training program; trainees must be available for onsite trainings every two weeks until certified. The grounds of Tovrea Castle are a large "Cacti Garden." As a Volunteer in the Garden, you’ll be helping Tovrea Carraro Society keep the gardens in great shape during your 3-hour time. You must be 13 years of age or older; everyone under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult over the age of 21. You do NOT need to attend an orientation prior to signing up to volunteer in the Garden; please DO sign up at http://vols.pt/FNt4pG so we know you are coming. What to Wear: On Your Feet - Work boots or a heavy-duty tennis shoe with thick rubber only; no flip-flops, sandals or thin shoes of any kind. On Your Body - Long pants, Denim Jeans are Great - no exceptions! We’re in the desert and those cacti will get you! A T-shirt with short sleeves, at a minimum. Long sleeves are an even better idea, for sun and cacti protection. No Sleeveless shirts of any kind. On Your Head - Hats and Sunglasses. For YOUR SAFETY, You will be turned away if not dressed appropriately! What to Bring: Your favorite weeding tools and gloves. Don’t have any, we’ll share ours with you. Guest Services Volunteers are ambassadors who facilitate meaningful experiences for our visitors by welcoming guests and providing information about the area. In addition, they assist guests with purchases in the Gift Shop that support the TCS Mission. Volunteers are trained to use the easy cash register.
