Key Responsibilities: Curate and update our community calendar with a variety of multicultural events, adding about 45 new events each week (sometimes as many as 80+). To be culturally sensitive and culturally aware. Availability to volunteer mid-week (preferably Wednesdays) to meet our weekly publishing deadline. Qualifications: Exceptional dependability and a strong sense of timeliness, essential for the time-sensitive aspects of the role. Unwavering attention to detail and consistency in all tasks, ensuring accuracy in every aspect. A deep interest in cultural events and a commitment to enhancing community engagement. Excellent written communication skills, crucial for effectively conveying event details. Discerning judgment to evaluate the relevance of events to our mission and to distinguish between essential and non-essential content in listings. The Worldview Project is currently seeking a Volunteer Coordinator. This position entails recruiting and managing our volunteers and interns. As we work with volunteers and interns from a wide range of countries, cultural sensitivity, and awareness are a must. Dependability and conscientiousness are also extremely important. The volunteer coordinator must endeavor to be an exemplary volunteer in order to create a positive model for other volunteers and interns, leading by example. The minimum weekly commitment is 6 hours per week. Normally our office is open during regular business hours, but the volunteer coordinator must be able to work a few weekend days a year when The Worldview Project has events. As working directly with individual volunteers is highly desirable, candidates should have a flexible schedule and live relatively close to our office in San Diego, California. This is not a remote opportunity. As a Social Media Volunteer or Intern, you will play a critical role in promoting our mission and activities through various social media platforms. You will own the development and implementation of social media campaigns, creation of engaging content, and growth of our social media following. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: Develop and implement social media campaigns that promote our mission and activities Create engaging and shareable content for social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn Monitor and respond to social media comments and messages Analyze social media metrics and adjust strategies as needed to improve engagement and reach Collaborate with our team to develop new ideas and strategies for social media outreach Stay up-to-date with the latest social media trends and best practices The ideal candidate for this role will have: Marketing and/or advertising experience Experience with a variety of social media platforms Excellent written and verbal communication skills Creativity and a passion for storytelling Strong analytical skills and the ability to use data to inform decision-making The ability to work independently and as part of a team A commitment to promoting cross-cultural understanding and awareness This is a volunteer or intern position, but it offers valuable experience in marketing and social media management. Responsibilities include: attending and researching events, interviewing people, and writing articles suitable in tone and content for publication for our online magazine, The San Diego Participant Observer. A lively writing style that is expository and descriptive is editorially favored over subjective and personal approaches. Applicants should understand that depending on circumstance, subject matter, and skills, the editorial process can occasionally be arduous and painstaking including the possibility of entire rewrites or pulling the plug on an article if it lacks relevance to our mission. Applicants should also understand that the publication process is highly collaborative. We are seeking writers who have a thirst for getting to the bottom of things and strive for excellence. Proofreading skills and familiarity with content management systems are helpful, but not required. Reliable transportation is very helpful. The Worldview Project's work is San Diego, CA based. The Worldview Project is looking for a Volunteer Associate Editor for its online magazine, The San Diego Participant Observer. Our magazine is both a source for up-to-date information on local events, as well as, a multi-sectioned resource that celebrates cultural diversity and sensitivity. In addition to normal editorial functions (editing, revising, acquiring new content), we are looking for someone who can learn all aspects of the publishing process. Requirements: Knowledge of HTML and CSS is highly desirable but not required. Must have good social skills to work with fellow writers and content developers. Must be willing to commit to at least 10 hours per week for at least 6 months and on occasion, Friday mornings (when we send out our weekly e-blast). Organized, detail oriented, resourceful, and dependable. Possess high-quality standards, a collaborative spirit, and a sincere interest in the mission of promoting cross-cultural awareness. Must have the confidence to take over managing editorial responsibilities as the need arises. An individual with substantial experience desired, but willing to train the right candidate.
