I've been a volunteer at the Sanctuary for about a year and I absolutely LOVE this place. My *obsession* is with the parrots. Being a bird-mom for over twenty years to my own flock, I feel right at home with my new adopted feathered family at Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary. And the people who manage this oasis....I love them, too! :)

WOW, I LOVE THE GREAT CONECTION WTTH THE ANIMALS. JUST THE ONE ON ONE, IS SO FULLING. THERE ARE SO MANY SPECIAL ANIMALS HERE THAT NEED HELP, BUT IN THE END THEY ARE HELPING ME. SOMETIMES YOU THINK YOU KNOW WHAT YOU NEED... THEN YOU GET MORE THAN YOU COULD DREAM. GIVE A LITTLE...and anything can happen...HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON

This is a great place to volunteer. I have been volunteering for about 2 years. I mostly work with the exotic birds but have worked with the minis and the goats as well. The feeling you have when working with the birds is pure joy. They each have individual personalities and you know the second you walk into the room they are appreciative. They sing, dance talk and if you need an oasis from every day life, this is the place to be. I highly suggest you spend some time there if nothing else go and visit. You will feel great after.
