War on honeysuckle and invasive plants

Details Volunteers are welcome to join us as we learn about invasive plant species, why they are detrimental to our environment and also take action to combat their wide spread growth. Start the day with a brief lesson about the impact invasive plants have on our native biodiversity and also how to properly identify these harmful plants and how to remove them. We will then go to one of our multiple trails around our 122 acre non-profit farm to search out and remove invasive plant species. Through this program we hope to educate volunteers on the negative impact invasive species play in our environment. Volunteers will learn how to identify these harmful plant species and the best ways to combat their growth, hopefully fully preventing their return. *Use of herbicide is required to treat honeysuckle.

Grounds Maintenance on a Heritage Farm

We are looking for volunteers to help with the maintenance of our 122 acre educational working farm. During the summer and fall months, grass and weeds grow quickly. We are looking for individuals who like to mow grass and weedwhack to maintain pathways around the Farm. We are looking for volunteers who have experience on large riding zero-turn mowers too. Trail Maintenance Volunteer

We are looking for volunteers to help us maintain a small network of hiking trails on our 122 acre educational working farm. We have a group of volunteers who cut back honeysuckle, clear brush in the paths, trim and cut down trees as needed, add water bars to trails to slow erosion and inform staff of any major issues.

Front Desk Volunteers for Beautiful Working Farm!

Looking for a volunteer to help run the front desk at a local educational working farm. We have 2 shifts a day; 9am-1pm and 1-5pm. We are currently looking for help on occasional Saturday and Monday mornings. Responsibilities would be to greet visitors, answer phones, enroll new members, collect fees, and sell items from the gift shop. We provide the necessary training for you to feel comfortable with all these tasks. We also have a front desk binder outlines all you need to know. Join a great team of volunteers in a beautiful setting. Come join the fun!

Volunteer Educator: School Field Trip Guide

Help young people learn about where their food comes from through hands-on experiential learning on a working farm. Teach children about farm animals including grinding corn to feed chickens, planting seeds, composting and about the important role bees play in food production. We host school groups every weekday. Most programs last about two hours and begin between 9am and 10am. The majority of groups are preschoolers through fourth graders. We will train you to lead small groups to various learning stations around the farm. Our education volunteer trainings are going to be on Thursday, March 5th and Friday, March 6th from 10am-12pm. You are welcome to attend one or both! We are always looking for new education volunteers to join the team no matter the time of year! It's a great time to come get involved! Visitors to Gorman Heritage Farm will have an opportunity to learn about working family farms and their importance to significant historical and environmental events in Southwestern Ohio history. The Gorman Heritage Farm provides the Greater Cincinnati Area residents and visitors, memorable opportunities for hands-on learning and leisurely strolls through 122 acres of farmland and woods. Gorman Heritage Farm also offers fresh produce as well as meat from the animals raised on site.
