Mission Statement

To be the leading provider of vital health, education and employment services to families, children, and seniors living in affordable housing communities. Our goal is to help keep family members employed, children in school, and seniors active.

Description

Project Access envisions that all residents of affordable housing communities have the opportunity to achieve self-sufficiency and maximize their full potential. To accomplish this goal Project Access works with affordable housing developers/owners in a partial fee-for-service relationship to bring free services to residents and in some cases those living within the overall community. This partial financial commitment and in-kind donation of space allows Project Access to bring additional resources together to develop comprehensive programs at our Resource Centers. Project Access’ bilingual Service Coordinators offer a variety of programs and services to address individual and community needs.

This volunteer experience played a formative role in shaping me who I am today. I loved the staff at the site that I worked at. The residents were very sweet and I was always welcomed with a smile from everyone I encountered. I would highly recommend working with Project Access to any high schooler interested in working with people from all walks of life.

I contacted this organization a week ago to express interest in volunteering and I still have not heard back from them. I don't suggest volunteering for an organization with such poor communication.

I had the opportunity to volunteer with project access at their monthly birthday party for the lovely young seniors at their apartment in Torrance. The service leader Christine Choi was a pleasure to work with and I enjoyed interacting with all the seniors. It was a fun and rewarding day!

I love working with Project Access! I started at this organization as a volunteer in 2012. Working with Project Access gave me a chance to grow as a professional. I got to work with kids, seniors, and adults. I wasn't just filing papers all day. They asked me about what my strengths were and what I was interested and we build my position around those things. After being with Project Access for over two years, I am better at managing a classroom of kids, communicating in customer service situations, planning big events, creating marketing materials for outreach, and developing programs. Being a part of Project Access was so rewarding and it has given me the skills and experience to succeed in my professional life. I love Project Access!

Volunteering at Project Access, Los Angeles is really eye-opening. So many children are struggling in school, and so terribly behind in their studies.. Many cannot even read. At Project Access YOU get to make a personal difference in the lives of so many children and teens. If you volunteer, you get to empower them with education and help these kids build confidence and motivation. There are so many opportunities to do great things--make outdoor fitness programs, help host drug-awareness events, and even community outreach to bring more activities to project Access. Humble yourself and volunteer, for the kids, teens -- and yourself. Appreciate your life more, while making a positive difference in someone else's. It's a challenge, but you won't regret it.

The Staff in San Jose is excellent. I have high school students volunteer here at the after school programs. It's great experience for those wanting to work with children in a fun environment. ProjectAccess is a great organization with excellent, knowledgeable staff who are willing to work with community organizations and form alliances. I would highly recommend volunteering with them. Not only do they have childcare positions, but they also offer community outreach, planning, organization, office work volunteer opportunities. Thank you, Project Access so much for making this a pleasant experience for both me and my students.
