Community Educators are volunteer public speakers who help the Alzheimer's Association provide consumer education. These volunteers deliver prepared presentations on topics related to Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Community Educators: Deliver approximately 6-12 presentations (in person or virtually) annually using prepared Alzheimer’s Association consumer education programs on a variety of care and support topics. Collaborate with local Association staff to expand programs by securing community partners, scheduling presentations, delivering the programs, and managing needed materials. Serve as presenter for chapter-scheduled education programs and conferences. Connect people with additional Association services and volunteer opportunities by proactively making referrals to Alzheimer's Association programs & free 24/7 Helpline. The Association is seeking volunteer candidates with: Demonstrated success with health education using excellent communication, presentation and adult education skills. Comfort with computers and familiarity with email and PPT presentations. Ability to network, and collaborate with staff, volunteers, and community partners. Passionate about the Alzheimer’s Association mission with personal or professional experience with dementia preferred. Must be age 21 to apply. Background checks are required.

Committee Goals: Recruit and retain teams to raise funds to advance care, support and research efforts. Engage local companies, organizations and businesses in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Create an engaging and memorable Walk day experience. What we ask of you: Choose a subcommittee that best fits your skills and interests: Executive Leadership Committee Commit your company as a sponsor Lead or appoint someone to serve as your Company Leader and commit to becoming a top fundraising team at your Walk to End Alzheimer’s Recruit new companies to partner as sponsors and teams Community Engagement Committee Promote the Walk to End Alzheimer’s to 3-5 new community partners/teams Assist in recruiting back, retaining and stewarding previous years community teams through phone calls and other outreach Help implement ways to build community awareness about Walk to End Alzheimer’s and the mission of the Alzheimer’s Association through community events, tabling opportunities and other grassroots marketing efforts Help strategize and implement community/friends & family kickoff for Walk to End Alzheimer’s Event Experience Committee Secure entertainment, food and prizes for Walk day Coordinate with entertainment, food and prize donors on delivery of items If possible, assist with event set-up Act as a lead volunteer of an area on Walk day Attend the Committee Orientation to receive training on the basics of Alzheimer’s disease, learn about Association programs and services, and receive an introduction to the Walk event model. Participate in committee meetings held at the Alzheimer’s Association office. Meetings are held approximately once a month and are usually 1-2 hours long. Start or join a Walk to End Alzheimer’s team at alz.org/walk, raise awareness and funds, and join us on Walk day to help us create an exceptional day-of-event experience for our participants. What you will experience: An introduction to a non-profit organization that has been providing services, information, and advocacy for more than 30 years to people with dementia, their families and health care providers.
