When a child becomes seriously ill, the first concern is for the child’s health and medical treatment. But then a second need becomes apparent - meeting the families’ most basic life necessities while their children are hospitalized. These families have to endure the discomfort of sleeping in the child’s hospital room, a nearby car or the waiting room. The expense and isolation of a hotel stay adds more stress to a family’s already debilitating condition, and the questions begin: Where will we stay? What will we eat? How will we take care of our child and ourselves?

At no cost to the family, Ronald McDonald House(r) provides advanced services that support each guest’s physical, emotional, and social needs. It is more than a house; it is a home built on the concept of caring and helping families of children with chronic illness, injury or death. Those needs are answered by providing a welcoming, comfortable, short-term residential facility that will serve as a home-away-from-home. Our alternative to the hardships of commuting long distances is a place where families can stay together and focus only on the wellness of their child.
