Mission Statement
Barrio Action was established to empower young people to succeed both academically and socially, working with people of all ages, with a special emphasis on helping high-risk and at-risk youth, young adults, and their families. The staff of Barrio Action works in partnership with youth and their families, seeking to increase the youth’s understanding of the life choices available to them. -To create and sustain a healthy and nurturing family life -To establish a commitment to education -To develop and improve their social skills -To retain their dignity and reinforce their self-esteem.
Description
Youth Programs
Our Youth Programs help empower local youth to become leaders with a range of programs that include Recreation, Tutoring and Homework Assistance, College Corner, Mental Health Services, Gang Reduction and Youth Development (GRYD), and Pediatric Weight Management.
Family Programs
Bario Action is a Los Angeles FamilySource Center, a one-stop shop for social, educational, work, and family support services. We offer Parenting Classes, Supportive Services, Multi-Benefit Screening; Case Management, Computer Classes, Financial Literacy, Tax Preparation Services, Domestic Violence Programs, Job Readiness, Dance Classes, and Arts and Crafts.
