Jacob A. Riis Neighborhood Settlement is seeking a bilingual volunteer to teach a beginner level Spanish class. We are looking for a volunteer who can dedicate an hour a week for at least ten weeks. The ideal volunteer will have some teaching experience. The individual should be well organized, have patience and the ability to commit for the length of the project. This opportunity can be in-person or remote. Our Immigrant Services program is looking for volunteers who are bilingual in French, Chinese, Russian, Haitian Creole, Spanish to support our community outreach work in Queens! Bilingual volunteers play a vital role in connecting our organization with the diverse immigrant community we serve. This role involves actively engaging with community members, promoting awareness of our services, and facilitating connections to resources and support. Volunteers work closely with our team to contribute to outreach efforts. This may include: Attending community events and gatherings to represent our organization. Providing information about our free programs and services for immigrants, such as English classes and legal services. Conducting educational workshops on relevant topics, such as immigrant rights. Translating our promotional materials and information into additional languages. Schedule: First Tuesday of each month Pop-up community events and outreach activities may take place during weekday mornings, afternoons, and evenings or Saturdays Benefits: Opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the community.
