St. Sophia's Forgotten Felines has a great new facility (purchased in 2019, currently undergoing renovations after grand opening in 2022), and we need a few skilled persons to help with small handy projects around the shelter -- light fixtures, small plumbing fixes, screwing things in and building shelving. Taking care of cats is a lot of work, and having a well-maintained facility that is functioning and runs efficiently is paramount to our success. Hours are flexible and tasks are based on skill and interest. Please reach out if you're interested in helping us keep our physical shelter up and running.

We need drivers who can jump in and help with transporting. Our 36 fosters live all over the Chicagoland Area We have 6 pet store locations and 1 shelter location We have 3 main veterinary clinics we use Think of all of the possible transport combinations!!!

It is unfortunate that there are many cats and kittens without homes, and St. Sophia’s strives to be the best in Temporary Care for Cats in Transition. The keyword is Temporary, as our goal is to have all cats and kittens in our care placed into new forever homes. There are many different types of fostering opportunities that we have, and we have an application process so that we can make the best fit for both you, your family, and the cat(s)/kittens(s) that you will care for. Foster homes can take care of one or two adult cats (some completely adoptable and just waiting for adoption, some that have minor health issues, some that are shy and need some patience, etc), or a litter of kittens (with or without a mom). Per Illinois Dept of Agriculture Law, all foster homes must be inspected by the licensing agency (in this case, it would be St. Sophia’s), so when you are approved, we will need to inspect the area where you will be keeping your foster cat(s). A foster-license is effective for 1-year after the foster-contract is signed. A new foster contract will be signed for each year you are intending to foster. All of our fosters receive: Litter Box Litter Scoop Food (canned and dry) Dishes Scratching post (if desired) Nail clippers 100% Vet Care If you're interested in fostering, you'll need to submit an application. Please submit an inquiry here, and we'll send you an application!

St. Sophia's Forgotten Felines has cats and kittens living at the Petco in Willowbrook on Kingery Highway. And, we need Kennel Helpers! What Would You Do? Kennel Helpers are very important people. They check the cats in the cages. They scoop boxes. They fill food and water dishes. They wipe down kennel walls and doors. And most importantly, they Socialize the Cats! We want our cats to be healthy, clean, and HAPPY! And we need your help to do it! How Often Are You Needed? Kennels need to be visited at least once a day. Volunteers sign up for one shift a week, and be expected to be committed to that shift. Shifts are morning (prior to 10am) and evening (after 4pm) and are flexible (as in, you can come at any time before 10am, or anytime after 4 on your scheduled day). Most people stay at least an hour, but some people like to stay longer (and play with the cats). We're flexible, but the main thing is that the cats are cared for!
