Clackamas Volunteers in Medicine is looking for motivated and compassionate medical providers to add to the heart and soul of our clinic. Our mission is to serve the health needs of uninsured low-income people in Clackamas County by providing free and inclusive medical care through dedicated medical and community volunteers. We are a non profit free clinic in Oregon City. Our clinic operates on volunteers and very minimal staff members. We offer free healthcare to uninsured, underinsured, low-income residents of Clackamas County. We are looking for general and specialist medical providers including, but not limited to: Family Medicine/Primary Care Internal Medicine Dermatology Cardiology Gynecology Ophthalmology Rheumatology *Dental Care: Dentists interested in charity work are encouraged to contact us. We are able to provide free medical malpractice coverage through the FTCA.

The Volunteer RN supports the patients and providers of the Clinic by escorting patients throughout the Clinic - to the exam room or the lab - recording vital signs, documenting in the patient’s medical record, cleaning exam rooms after patient use, and stocking supplies in exam rooms. You will also be mentoring/training future healthcare professionals. Specific Responsibilities: Rooming patients Electronic Health Records Entry records vital signs, weight, O2 sats if indicated completes patient assessment related to reason for visit completes HPI, History and Physical Information completes social history, smoking, alcohol, and recreational drug use documents allergies Emergency Procedures O2 Tank Nitrous Oxide AED Nursing Procedures EKG Nebulizer Minor Wound Care Ear Irrigations Assist physicians with minor procedures, cyst removal, pap smears Administers injections i.e. flu vaccine Coordinates back office flow Schedules outside tests, referrals and follow up appointments as directed Returns patient phone calls as needed Cleans clinical area and patient rooms Patient Education Provides adult patient education such as diabetes, hypertension and documents in chart.

Clackamas Volunteers in Medicine is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing quality healthcare to low-income, uninsured residents of Clackamas County. Located in Oregon City, we are the only clinic in Clackamas County which offers medical services at no cost to patients. Our friendly medical team, which includes providers, nurses, scribes, interpreters, lab and administrative staff, provides comprehensive services to clinic patients, including disease prevention, health maintenance and education. We are currently seeking volunteer lab personnel to join us in providing these much needed services. Lab volunteers collect blood and urine specimens for processing as required by medical personnel orders. The volunteer performs CLIA-waived testing in support of patient care, and performs quality control on CLIA-waived tests. Volunteers may work as a team: One volunteer may complete computer procedures and paperwork, and the other may complete specimen collections. Experienced phlebotomists, MAs and nurses, as well as others who have worked in medical environment are encouraged to inquire.

Position: Volunteer Medical Scribe Reports to: Volunteer Coordinator, Clinic Manager and Medical Director Job Description: A medical scribe is responsible for capturing, in real-time, accurate and detailed documentation of patient encounters on the EHR system (Amazing Charts) for healthcare providers during clinic hours. A scribe allows the provider to give high quality care and attention to the patient diagnosis and treatment plan as well as optimize the provider’s efficiency and productivity. Training is provided. Core Responsibilities: Accompany the physician during the office visit with the patient. You will be present for the duration of the visit with the exception of parts of the physical examination. Record the History of Present Illness (HPI), Review of Systems (ROS), Physical Exam, and Assessment and Plan. Enter/maintain the patient’s Past Medical History, Social History, Family History, Current Medications, and Problem List. Enter the visit diagnoses, lab orders, and prescriptions. Locate patient information such as lab tests, prior medical records, demographic information, etc. all via the EHR system. Ensure proper communication between nurses and providers regarding patients. Assist the provider in navigating the EHR.

Position Description: Volunteer interpreters work as the primary interface between staff and patients, providing culturally competent, caring and quality interpretation. They stay with the patient during their appointment, and make follow up calls to them with lab results and other prescribed care. Schedule: The Volunteer Interpreter serves 3.5- 4.5 hours per shift and may sign up for specific days and times when the clinic is open and seeing patients. Currently, those hours are as follows: 1 st & 3 rd Tuesday of the month, 2:30-6pm, 2nd & 4th Tuesday of the month, 12:30-5pm Every Wednesday, 12:30-5pm Every Thursday, 4:30-9pm We ask for a minimum commitment of 6 months from our volunteers. Specific Tasks: Provide interpretation services for patients in all areas of the clinic to include phone calls, front office reception, appointment scheduling, eligibility screening, settling patients into treatment rooms, laboratory, examination with medical personnel and assisting clinic coordinator in after care instructions. Maintain strict confidence of all conversations. Learn clinic procedures and eligibility guidelines, medical terminology and ensure the patient understands the procedures at the clinic and after-care instructions. May assist in translation of written materials from English to other language(s). May assist with outreach to outlying areas in Clackamas County. Qualifications: The successful Medical Interpreter will have a fluent command of English and Spanish. Formal interpreter training is required. Those with prior medical interpretation experience may also apply. Individuals who are pursuing their medical interpreter certification may complete their required hours at the clinic, as long as they have completed formal training. A 6-month commitment to the clinic is requested. The interpreter must be familiar with the National Standards of Practice for Healthcare Interpreters. Experience interpreting in the first person is preferred. This position requires strong command of a language including the ability to clearly communicate medical terms and conditions to patients who speak limited English. Interpreter needs to be compassionate, discreet, patient and polite with understanding of the social nuances of other cultures. This position requires accompaniment of patient through all phases of a clinic visit, including intake, examination and lab.
