I have been volunteering with Kindred Hospice for several years now and it is a great organization! Everyone is very caring and compassionate, and truly cares about the patients and their families. There are many different opportunities for volunteers to choose from, and Susan, the volunteer coordinator is wonderful! I would highly recommend!

I’ve been a volunteer with Kindred Hospice since 2010 and this is the most rewarding volunteer opportunity I’ve experienced. The staff is composed of highly qualified individuals who all have a heart for our patients. This includes office personnel, nurses, chaplains and social workers. The volunteer coordinator, Susan, is the nicest person I’ve ever met; she runs a fantastic volunteer program which offers a variety of ways to volunteer from direct patient contact to office help. Volunteers are recognized and appreciated in many ways; it is a blessing to be a part of this great organization. I have appreciated the flexibility I’ve been offered in whatever capacity I’ve volunteered. Kindred Hospice has something for everyone.

AVOID. . . AVOID. . . AVOID Left scheduled four-hour orientation program after 75 minutes; Volunteer Coordinator talked about herself and her life the whole time; tried to ask questions about hospice but she kept going back to self; next to nothing disseminated had to do with hospice or hospice volunteering . . . a waste of time including the drive there and back home.

Kindred Hospice is a great organization. If you're looking for a place to volunteer where the office and medical staff, chaplains, and others actually care about not only their patients, but also their volunteers, this is where you want to be. If you want to volunteer for a local office where the volunteer coordinator is approachable, warm, encouraging, and respects your personal time, this is where you want to be. I have been a volunteer for Kindred for a year now, and have been very happy with my choice. I've gained a lot of knowledge, met some great people who are all interested in the entire well-being of their patients, and I've felt appreciated at every turn. I can't recommend this organization enough. If you want to be a hospice volunteer, Kindred wants you to be part of their family.
