Gentiva Hospice is seeking volunteers to share an hour with a patient. Our patients enjoy chatting and reminiscing or listening to volunteers read to them--short stories, poetry, magazines, the Bible, inspirational readings, or even chapters of a novel. Your visit to a patient brightens the day, even for an hour! A weekly visit provides companionship, socialization, intellectual stimulation and comfort to patients. You may choose the patients you visit--to make your gift of time convenient and comfortable for you. Join our team of outstanding volunteers! Volunteer Orientation sessions are offered according to your availability. Email kimberlyn.wideman@gentivahs.com or call Kimberlyn at 614-414-0500 for more information.

At Gentiva Hospice, volunteers are indispensable to the patients and families we serve, and are key members of our hospice care team. We are specifically looking for a volunteer who can play guitar or other instruments for patients and provide relaxing, inspiring music. If you are a music lover, you know the psychological and spiritual benefits of music. Help our patients relive their glory days by playing some old classics, or create an atmosphere of peace and tranquility with hymns or a simple tune. We ask that volunteers be available to visit with patients for about 1-3 hours a week. We are flexible with YOUR schedule and respectful of YOUR time. ORIENTATION Gentiva hospice volunteers are trained in the goals and philosophy of hospice care, as well as the care and comfort of the hospice patient. Orientation sessions are held at the Gentiva Hospice office (540 Officenter Place). Through their caring, compassion, and time given to hospice patients, our volunteers continue to make an invaluable contribution to community, personal emotional and spiritual growth, and greater appreciation for life. Training provided. Background check, fingerprinting, drug test, and TB screening required (at Gentiva's expense). Volunteers visiting patients must be at least 18 years old. Join our volunteer team!

Gentiva Hospice is seeking volunteers to cut patients' hair and help them feel beautiful! We have a few patients who are not able to leave their homes due to mobility issues or pain, but who still deserve to feel beautiful and neat. Your help can really make a difference in a hospice patient's life! Since you'll be visiting patients, we do require a TB test, drug screen, fingerprinting, background check, and completion of a training session. Our volunteer training covers topics including general information about hospice, code statuses of patients, typical diagnoses and symptoms you'll see in hospice patients, and what to do in emergency situations. For more information or to register for orientation, please email kimberlyn.wideman@gentivahs.com or call for Kimberlyn at 614-414-0500. Join our team of exceptional, caring volunteers!
