Mission Statement
The mission of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kentuckiana is to provide a "home away from home" for families of children receiving healthcare at area medical facilities.
Description
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kentuckiana (RMHCK) is a non-profit, 501 (c) (3) charity located in the heart of downtown Louisville, a short walk from Kosair Children's Hospital and other regional hospitals. We accomplish our mission with four distinct progras: Ronald McDonald House (RMH); Ronald McDonald Family Rooms; grants; and scholarships.
Founded in 1984, Louisville's Ronald McDonald House began with 19 guest rooms. As the need grew, so did we. In 2003, we expanded RMH to 29 rooms, and we expanded again in 2009, this time to 36 guest rooms, each accommodating up to four people.
In 1992, RMHCK helped to pioneer one of the first Ronald McDonald Family Rooms in the world - a place families can rest and regroup right at the hospital, just steps from their sick child. We have Family Room in three Louisville hospitals - Norton Suburban, Kosair Children's, and Frazier Rehab Insitute.
Since opening our doors, RMHCK has helped more than 25,000 families from all 50 states and several international locations. We've given more than $1 million in grants to organizations that support children. We are truly a community-supported organization due to our generous volunteers, donors, and advocates.
