Many seniors find themselves overwhelmed and unable to manage bill paying and budgeting resulting with bills going unpaid and debts mounting. Our Money Management volunteers provide assistance with their monthly bill paying and related paperwork. Volunteer bill payers establish a list of monthly income and expenses; sort (financial) mail; organize bills for payment; balance checkbook and reconcile to bank statement; write checks from a designated account for consumer to sign; and perform other related tasks as agreed by consumer, volunteer, and program coordinator. We will train, supervise, and provide ongoing support to our Money Management volunteers. Training can be done in two hours. You will be assigned one consumer (or in a few cases, spouses) living near you. Money Management Volunteers visit with them for 6-8 hours per month, depending on their needs. A minimum one-year commitment to the program is requested. Monthly reporting is required; Bill Payers attend quarterly meetings to review client cases, discuss issues and updates. Make a difference in the lives of seniors in your community! Meals on Wheels drivers deliver nutritious meals to homebound seniors Monday-Friday for two hours between 11 am -1 pm. We serve seniors in 16 communities north and west of Boston. As a Meals on Wheels driver, you do much more than deliver a meal -- you provide friendly contact that brightens the lives of homebound seniors. Drivers serve as our eyes and ears, often reporting health and well-being concerns before they become a crisis. Meals on Wheels is perfect to do on your own or with a friend -- you can partner to share a route or deliver on alternate weeks. No matter how you choose to help, you will see many smiling, grateful faces among the seniors on your route.
