It has been a very rewarding experience to help students become better equipped to be in touch with their jobs, improve their communication skills in their daily lives and see their personal confidence grow. And there are many things the tutors learn from their students that makes this program a huge asset to the community in so many ways. The LVFV organization is my #1 pick to support in time and funding. The Staff is awesome. They are attentive to both student and tutors needs and always available to help with questions.

I do recommend Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley to my friends as an organization in which participation can make a difference in a person's life and in a whole community. I have tutored several students and have learned from each experience. The staff at LVFV are very easy to work with. They are supportive of the needs of volunteers and students, and offer support in several ways. This is a great way to improve relations in our community, and if more people volunteered everyone would be better off.

I have been a literacy tutor for over 4 years. The training offered very good preparation for working with students, and there is ongoing support for tutors - through monthly meetings and prompt attention to all questions and concerns. An amazing organization, and I am proud to be part of it!

Teaching English to committed, hardworking individuals resulting in life changing improvments in the students lives is a truly rewarding experience.

It has been a pleasure being associated with LVFV for over 4 years. I feel that it gives many opportunities for immediate feedback in areas that can make significant impacts in people's lives.

I have seen the effectiveness of this organization firsthand. For many students, their tutors are among the few English-speaking people they know. The tutors not only teach English, but they are goodwill ambassadors for their community through their one-on-one relationship with their students. This can be a very rewarding volunteer experience.

Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley is, as their tagline says, "Literally Changing Lives." Volunteers provide one-on-one tutoring to help adult learners better read, write, speak and understand English. This helps people become more engaged in their communities, more self-sufficient and less reliant on others. Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley delivers measurable results, with their students consistently showing grade-level improvements while they participate in the program. Volunteers and donors will be pleased to see that their time and dollars are very carefully managed to provide maximum impact with minimal investment.

I have been a literacy volunteer for almost four years. This is the most gratifying activity I have ever participated in. I am as excited as my student every time he moves to a new level, receives a promotion at work, or even just describes a successful encounter with an English speaker. As I see his self-confidence grow I am as proud of him as I am of my own children. I would highly recommend volunteering with LVFV to anyone who enjoys making a difference in an individual's life.

I have been a volunteer for over 20 years and have helped students from Japan, Bulgaria, Poland, Russia, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Columbia, and others learn to read, write and speak English in order that they might find a better job, help their children in school, take the naturalization test to become a citizen and other goals they are pursuing. This is a VERY rewarding volunteer opportunity and I highly recommended it those of you who have extra time (one to two hours per week) to give back to our community.

Being in a banking industry and visiting corporate business's, we have a need in the community to educate our employees so that they in turn can be more productive in work and at home. Also in our schools to help parents communicate and educate.

I became a literacy tutor about 8 months ago. The training is very good and once I got my student, I found tutoring to be much easier than I had anticipated. I have a wonderful student. Tutoring is one of the most rewarding activities I do. Take a few moments and review their website. Many questions will be answered under the volunteer section. Then volunteer - you won't regret it.

I have been involved with LVFV as a student tutor and Board Member for several years and can attest to the dedication of our Staff, Tutor Volunteers, and our Board. We seem to make a lot happen with a little. The many hours we all contribute are very rewarding when you see the joy and strength our students derive from learning English and how they "pay it forward" by their own volunteerism. A very worthwhile non-for-profit I am proud to be associated with.
