Providence St. Peter Hospital is a place where you can help build a healthy community by volunteering. Through acts of kindness, healing hands, and a knowing smile, volunteers make a difference in the healthcare experience. Volunteers at Providence serve in a variety of positions, providing a special, personal connection with patients, often when they need it most. Most positions ask volunteers to serve one-day-a-week for a three-hour session (some positions are on-call). Volunteer onboarding includes a background check, orientation, and vaccine/TB clearance. Current opportunities to lend a hand at St. Peter Hospital: Gift Shop: Volunteers provide customer services and retail therapy to staff, patients, and visitors seeking a snack or gift. Wayfinders: Volunteers escort visitors throughout the hospital and perform errands. Information Desk Greeters: Volunteers help patients check-in for appointments, escort them to their destination, and answer questions. No One Dies Alone / NODA: Volunteers serve at the bedside to be a human companion during a patient’s dying process. This is an on-call position. Patient Comfort Cart Rounders: Volunteers round with patients using a comfort cart to distribute activities, games, and personal care items. Unit Support: Volunteers serve in a designated unit to support nurses and patients by answering call lights, provide drinks and snacks to patients, and stocking supplies. Emergency Room: Volunteers stock supplies, assist with room turnover, and provide companionship to patients and their loved ones. Paw-Assisted Wellness Services / PAWS: Provide animal therapy to patients and staff. Eucharistic Ministers: Confirmed ministers provide communion to patients. Infusion Center Rounders (PRCS - Lacey): Volunteers round with patients to provide comfort during their treatment. Interested in volunteering? St. Peter Hospital Gift Shop Volunteers

Volunteers are an integral part of Providence St Peter Hospital, serving in a variety of positions which focus on easing the way of our patients, their families, and our caregivers. One way volunteers provide a special, personal touch to the Providence experience is at our Gift Shop! The Providence Corner Gift Shop is located in the main lobby and features unique gifts, flowers and balloons, as well as personal care items, snacks and drinks. The Gift Shop is a special place that often serves as a respite for patient’s loved ones needing a place to escape the sometimes serious nature of patient illness. Profits from the Gift Shop go directly to the Providence Foundation. Gift Shop Volunteer Responsibilities: Provide exceptional customer service! Use a computer to check out customers Process orders over the phone When time allows, restock items and dust Gift Shop Volunteer Qualifications: Volunteers are asked to commit to 75-hours by volunteering one-day per week for a 3-4 hour session. Must be outgoing, friendly, helpful, and have a welcoming demeanor. Be able to stand or sit for long periods and pick up 30 lbs from floor level. Ability to hear well and communicate clearly with a diverse population. Have basic computer skills. Must be able to stay calm and reassuring in all circumstances.
