The Positive Alternative Recreation Teambuilding Impact (PARTI) Program is seeking corporate, civic, and community volunteers to serve alongside youth in the 25th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Stop The Violence Celebration. This two-day event will empower diverse youth to showcase their talents through performances, art, and cultural expressions that promote racial equity, wellness, and social justice. By volunteering, you will help empower100 youth as they lead efforts to support 1,000 of their peers and community members to foster unity, leadership, and positive change in Silicon Valley and Bay Area communities. 25th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Stop The Violence Student-Led Celebration January 17-18, 2025 Purpose of the Event The 25th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Stop The Violence Celebration aims to honor Dr. King's legacy by fostering unity, racial equity, and youth empowerment through artistic and cultural expression. The event, led by students, is designed to create a platform for diverse youth to showcase their talents, voice their concerns, and advocate for social justice, safety, and wellness. Why This Event is Important in 2025 As we inaugurate a new President of the United States, this event becomes more relevant than ever. It not only honors the vision of Dr. King but also serves as a reminder of the work that remains to be done in building a fair and equitable society. In a time of change and reflection, the celebration symbolizes hope, progress, and the ongoing struggle for justice. By engaging youth, particularly those from marginalized communities, in leadership roles, this celebration empowers the next generation to carry forward Dr. King’s vision of racial equity, safety, and gender equality. Our Why: PARTI was created in 2000 to provide activities for youth that build racial equity, safety, culture, wellness, and gender equality. Every day, we work to transform the lives of youth who suffer from bullying, depression, violent lifestyles, unhealthy relationships, and unstable families. Event Highlights Celebrity Performers: Inspirational figures and entertainers to motivate and engage youth. Stepping and Step Dance: Powerful performances symbolizing unity and strength in diversity. Traditional California Artists: Showcasing the rich cultural heritage of California. Youth Art Exhibits: Visual representations of justice, peace, and equity created by local students. Youth, Community, and Celebrity Fashion Designers: A fusion of culture, creativity, and identity. Self-Care Artistic Curators: Highlighting mental health and wellness through art. Cultural Performers: Dancers, singers, and performers celebrating diversity-Folklorical, West Indian, and more. Youth Performing Cultures: Hip Hop, K-pop, cheerleading, and pop performances. Video and Film Production: Youth-led media projects addressing social issues. Photography: Documenting the event through a lens of empowerment and activism. Artistic Makeup and Hair Design Productions: Showcasing creativity through fashion and design. Why This Event Matters to the Community The celebration is a platform where youth from marginalized communities can rise to leadership, using their voices and talents to address the issues that directly affect them.
