Mission Statement

Bringing people together to build homes, community, and hope.

Description

Since 1984 we have built or renovated over 200 homes in Rochester, helping families achieve their dreams of home ownership and strengthening local neighborhoods.

Flower City Habitat partners with low-income families to make home ownership possible. Partner families agree to Habitat's three foundational principals: a demonstrated need for adequate shelter, an ability to pay a no-profit mortgage or loan, and a willingness to partner with Habitat. Flower City Habitat for Humanity believe in 'a hand up not a hand out' families work sweat-equity hours and once they close on their home pay a no-profit mortgage.

I am an AmeriCorps volunteer serving at Flower City Habitat for Humanity (FCHH). I've had the opportunity to work on house construction, in the office, at events, and in the ReStore. Each opportunity was fun, engaging, and serving a great mission: building homes, community, and hope in Rochester! FCHH is a community in itself, so if you are looking for somewhere to get involved with a great group of people that ENJOY the volunteer work we do, come try us out!
