Mission Statement
Our NGO is devoted to improving local education, fostering environmental conservation efforts, and furthering sustainable development in communities throughout Tanzania. We organize various workcamps in Tanzania in which both local Tanzanian volunteers and volunteers from around the world participate. We believe that volunteering in workcamps can help forge connections among youth from diverse backgrounds and create an atmosphere of cooperation and respect among people from different countries

Tanzania Youth Cultural Exchange Network (TYCEN) is a non-governmental youth organization whose mission is to engage young people first-hand in improving local and health education, foster environmental conservation and Gender issues and further sustainable development in communities throughout Tanzania.TYCEN is a legal registered organization with the registration number S.A16529. We are based in Dar es Salaam operating national wide.
TYCEN activities involve and benefits the informal groups of young people aged 15-40, such activities are: To support the integration and involvement of young people in the social, cultural and economic life of their local and regional community, to create habits and skills for active civic participation, to provide training in the fields of social issues, to promote Self reliance and entrepreneur skills, to organize Youth Cultural Exchange and Educational programs and events, to organize and facilitate various workshops, seminars and conferences on various crosscutting issues.
Our Volunteer programs therefore are: Language teaching to underprivileged children and youth, sports and music for social change and development, Adult English classes, construction of school classrooms, HIV/AIDS, Malaria and drug abuse awareness, Arts and Culture, sports and recreation for all youth, Conservation: tree planting, Environmental education, marine and beach conservation.
