We are seeking volunteers who occasionally have time during the day to help out with our Medical Escort Program. Through this program, volunteers provide crucial transportation services to our older adult participants, to and from their medical appointments. Volunteers are needed to pick up the older adult at their home, escort them to their appointment, and then drive them home after their appointment is complete. This service is free to older adults who are enrolled in our program. You do not need your own vehicle to participate. Ride-share services, such as Uber or Lyft are great, just keep in mind that LBFE will not be able to reimburse you for such rides. All volunteers will need to attend a volunteer orientation as well as complete a background check in order to become a Medical Escort. If you would like to become a medical escort with LBFE or for more information about our organization, please email Debbie (duchida@littlebrotherssf.org).

LBFE's Visiting Volunteer Program is our most impactful program that gives volunteers the opportunity to build a lasting and meaningful friendship with an isolated older adult. We are looking for volunteers who are interested in being paired up 1:1 with an older adult to build a reciprocal, lasting friendship. All volunteers will be required to complete a one-time volunteer orientation, clear a background check, and attend an additional training for this program specifically. The training is no longer than 1 hour and it is done virtually! If you are interested in participating in this program, please email Debbie Uchida at duchida@littlebrotherssf.org or sign up for an LBFE volunteer orientation here: https://forms.gle/ bvFHryrwwznmDm319.

Introducing Creativity Connects! Little Brothers - Friends of the Elderly (LBFE) just launched Creativity Connects, a vibrant new program that invites you to make a meaningful impact while exploring their own creative passions. This initiative, in collaboration with Openhouse, an LGBTQ organization that serves older adults, pairs 2 volunteers with an older adult for a unique intergenerational experience. What’s in Store? Participants will collaborate on a creative project-think collages, photography, music, and more! Each volunteer will meet with their paired older adult 6-8 times over two months, fostering connections that go beyond the surface. The joy of creativity is not just in the projects; it’s in the bonds formed and the stories shared. Why Get Involved? Creativity Connects is more than just an art project; it’s a chance to enrich lives. Through this program, participants can expect: Enhanced Well-Being: Creativity brings joy and boosts mental health. A Sense of Belonging: Intergenerational connections foster community and understanding. Personal Growth: Volunteers gain valuable experiences while building confidence and self-esteem. Time Commitment: The program runs from mid-January to mid-March. Each triad will aim to meet 6-8 times over two months, making it a flexible and rewarding commitment. We are looking for more volunteers and would love to partner with you on this. If you have any questions or would like to learn more, let’s schedule a call? Together, we can make a difference in the lives of older adults and create lasting memories.
