YMCA Outreach Program for Aging Seniors Website: valleyymca.org/opas Facebook: @ymcaopas The YMCA Outreach Program for Aging Seniors is a community effort offering FREE support services for seniors in need. Services are provided by wonderful community volunteers. The objective is to meet the needs of the growing senior population here in the Valley, with the goal of enabling seniors to maintain independent living in their own homes. Y OPAS started in 2001 in Ahwatukee, and has recently expanded to also serve both Scottsdale and the Southwest Valley. Volunteers have the flexibility to sign up any time or day of the week, and as often as desired with each service typically lasting around 1.5 - 2.5 hours. The 65+ population is the fastest growing demographic both nationally and locally, and we need YOU! How can you help? Provide transportation to and from appointments Grocery shopping and errands with or for clients Friendly connections - spend time with clients in person or via phone Social Planning & Events (Luncheons, Art Classes, Dominos, etc..) Paperwork & Tech Assistance Minor Handyman Assistance and more! What are the Requirements to Volunteer? 21 years and older Complete the New Volunteer Orientation Pass a Background Check and Motor Vehicle Records Check if providing transportation Have a Valid Driver's License, Auto Insurance, and a Reliable Vehicle. Have a heart to serve seniors! Where are Volunteers Needed? Ahwatukee (South of the Mountain) 85044, 85045, 85048 We are passionate about showing our gratitude and appreciation for the amazing work our volunteers do, so as a bonus, the YMCA OPAS provides referral incentives as well as scheduling monthly or quarterly volunteer happy hour get togethers!
