Description
Historic Endview interprets the house and grounds chiefly from the time of Dr. Humphrey Hardwood Curtis and his wife Maria’s residence from 1858 until Maria’s death in 1919. Themes touched on include Civil War history including occupation of the house, daily lives of Civil War soldiers, the 1622 settlement of the Harwood family on the land, mid-nineteenth century medical history, natural and botanical features on the property, slavery and emancipation, women’s and children’s roles before and after the Civil War, and technological innovations during Maria’s lifetime (1840-1919).
