Virtual Opportunity
Try something new in 2025. No special skills required; just share your heart and enrich your life. Visit with Samaritan's patients and families in their homes or in long-term care facilities in your local communities. Provide a comforting presence, companionship, read, play cards and games, share stories, share military experiences, act as a friend or neighbor. Veterans needed to visit fellow Veterans. Volunteers visit once a week for 2-4 hours and do not provide any hands-on care. Must be at least 18 years old. No experience or healthcare background needed. Complimentary training is provided. Qualifications/Requirements: Minimum Age: 18 One-year commitment Volunteer Orientation and Training Some medical Medical requirements including COVID Vaccination and one booster (or physician-signed medical declination) Ongoing: Monthly Documentation, Annual Education We ask that all volunteers bring the following qualities to their work at Samaritan: good communication and listening skills, a nonjudgmental attitude, reliability, flexibility, and compassion. Please note: All who have experienced the loss of a significant family member or friend must wait one year from date of loss to begin the volunteer process.

Try something new in 2025. Do you enjoy chatting and socializing on the phone? We welcome you to become a Friendly Caller and make meaningful phone calls a few hours weekly to adults who are socially isolated or lonely and with whom you share hobbies and interests. Volunteer from your own home using a call hub to respect privacy and confidentiality. Complimentary orientation and training provided. Must be 18+ years old. Samaritan abides by the National Hospice and Palliative Care guideline that anyone who has experienced a significant loss of a loved one within the past 12 months must wait one year from the date of loss before volunteering. You can attend the orientation and training in person or virtually.

Visit with Samaritan's veteran patients and families in their homes or in long-term care facilities in your local community throughout Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, and Atlantic Counties. Support our patients and their family through companionship, sharing military experiences, sharing stories, attending medal ceremonies, performing life review, reading, playing cards and games, acting as a friend or neighbor. Volunteers visit once a week for 2-4 hours and do not provide any hands-on care. Must be at least 18 years old. No experience or healthcare background needed. Complimentary training is provided.
