Bailey-Boushay House provides skilled nursing care in our 24 hour a day in our Residential Care Program and our Outpatient Program supports over 300 individuals living in our community who receive medication management, meals, support groups, community building activities, and outings 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Dogs and Cats and Bunnys, oh my! We are looking for volunteers who have certification with their trained animal to be part of our Animal Assisted Therapy team via PET PARTNERS. Pets and their owners enhance the support to our 35 bed Residential Care Program. Residents come to us with multiple medical issues including HIV/AIDS, ALS, Huntington's disease and end stage cancers. Some are able to participate in daily activities while others are limited on their time out of their room. Residents truly appreciate the compassionate and unconditional love of a pet. Our Therapy Animals increase the quality of life of our residents simply by their presence- reducing isolation, anxiety, and depression and are a welcomed presence to residents who are in their final days of life. Pets and their owners are required to have a current certificate from Pet Partners. Pets must have an updated vaccine record. Owners of those pets are required to complete Bailey-Boushay House orientation and other on-line requirements, and be updated on their vaccines as well. A visit to Employee Health is included for this purpose. Are you and your pet certified through another accredited agency? Let us know!
