Children's Book Drive for Kent County

Do you have a love for children's books? Can you organize & collect "gently loved" books to add to our collection? Then we need your help! We need books for our volunteer readers to read one-on-one to preschool children in childcare centers, Head Starts, and Kindergartens. Get started today, contact us so we can email you a book drive kit! It has a flyer and tips on running a successful book drive. We have targetted a book wish list on our website at www.readalouddelaware.org. A great way for one person or a group of people to come together to promote literacy in Kent County!

Book "Wrangler" - New Castle County Area

One volunteer with a car to move book collections from one child care center to another about once every other month for approximately six locations. This requires a car and the ability to lift 30 pounds. The volunteer is encouraged to keep a supply of extra books, bags and aprons to facilitate transfer. Therefore, some storage capacity is needed unless the volunteer is willing to come to the office before and after each transfer session. Previous volunteer divided the six locations into two groups and did one group each month on alternate months and the task took about an hour.
