Mission Statement

For lawyers to read: The purpose of the corporation is to diminish hunger in the United States by (1) providing internet based resources which enables local gardeners and other entities seeking to donate extra produce and food to connect with local food pantries, food banks and food distribution programs in need of fresh produce and food to distribute to the needy and (2) educating the public about the hunger situation in the United States through an array of programs including web based applications. For everyone else to read: AmpleHarvest.org is a nationwide non-profit enabling America's 42+ million home gardeners who often grow more produce than they can use, to easily find a local food pantry eager for the excess. In short, we're focused on helping the staggering amount of excess fresh produce grown across America that typically is wasted to instead get to nearby food pantries. on a sustainable and permanent basis. The core idea is "No Food Left Behind"

Description

AmpleHarvest.org is a national non-profit diminishing hunger, improving nutrition and helping the environment by connecting gardeners with food pantries in their communities eager to receive their excess harvest.

AmpleHarvest.org has already registered nearly 8,000 food pantries across all 50 states. (See www.AmpleHarvest.org/map to see the big picture.) Some estimates list the total number of pantries in America at around 33,5000, so while we've made great strides, there is still alot of work to do.

Our goal is to have food pantries in every town registered nationwide and to educate many more of the over 42 million gardeners so they can learn about their opportunity to share their excess garden produce with their hungry neighbors. To achieve this, we need the help of volunteers in every community across America. Please visit www.AmpleHarvest.org/waystohelp to learn more and take action to diminish hunger while improving the health of those in need of food.

In these challenging times, growers (and others) across America have the opportunity to help their neighbors in need by reaching into their backyards instead of their back pockets.

Thank you for helping to spread the word!
