Mission Statement

Britepaths' mission is to provide our neighbors in need with short-term safety-net services and empower them to work toward long-term self-sufficiency.

Description

In 2024, Britepaths is celebrating our 40th anniversary. Since 1984, we have provided help and hope to Northern Virginia residents facing economic crisis through programs to stabilize families, foster personal empowerment, and support the needs of children. Our life-changing programs equip individuals and families with the resources and skills they need to withstand a financial emergency and begin a journey toward lasting independence and thriving. We invite you to get involved with our work to help our Northern Virginia neighbors.

My experience volunteering with Britepaths was disorienting and disappointing. A program manager there initially brought me on board in January 2024 to assist with bilingual office administration 1 afternoon per week, but after the 3rd visit, I was notified that the manager I had been working with wasn't at Britepaths any longer. I had received no negative feedback or comments. A different, senior program manager, emailed me to express their appreciation for my willingness to volunteer, confirmed their understanding of my one-afternoon-per-week schedule, and confirmed a continuing training session for the following Thursday afternoon. On the day of, that session was rescheduled for the week after, and when I came in, a 3rd, different Senior Program Manager "suggested" I find somewhere else to volunteer. There was no room for further discussion. I left feeling like they chewed me up and spit me out, and ultimately regret getting involved with Britepaths.
