Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide an opportunity for seniors to utilize their life experience and wisdom to help others by offering thoughtful and helpful advice to younger generations

Description

We are a web-based nonprofit service organization that pairs online advice seekers in their teens, 20's and 30's with a nationwide network of Cyber-Grandparents, aged 55 to 105, who share their hard-earned knowledge and wisdom. Our Elder members participate individually from their home computers or in groups at retirement communities (with the help of a facilitator). Anyone with access to the Internet can request anonymous advice on any topic and will receive a personalized e-mail response in return. The voice of experience is hip, sincere, and highly sought after by people of all ages; we are the most popular source of free online advice in the country. The Elder Wisdom Circle has been featured on ABC, CBS, BBC, NPR, and in many publications including USA Today and Time.

I have been volunteering with Elder Wisdom for over one year and usually answer an inquiry every weekday. I find this to be a very rewarding way to volunteer, especially for elders who might be home bound but would be able to help an advice seeker from the comforts of their own homes. The only requirement would be to be able to write in a friendly, cohesive manner, which is tested before you can volunteer. I highly recommend this organization to anybody who wants to make a difference.
