Mission Statement
Womanspace, Inc. is a leading nonprofit agency in Mercer County, New Jersey, that provides a comprehensive array of services to individuals and families impacted by domestic and sexual violence and is dedicated to improving the quality of life for women and their families. Programs include crisis intervention, emergency shelter, counseling, court advocacy and housing services.
Description
Emergency Services are available to assist victims of domestic violence and sexual assault immediately following the initial crisis: the 24-hour hotline (609-394-9000 or 1-800- 572-SAFE); shelter; Domestic Violence Victim Response Teams (DVVRTs); and Sexual Assault Support Advocates.
Counseling and Support Services are provided by professionals who are trained domestic violence and sexual assault specialists. Spanish speaking counselors are available for all services provided by this program and are available regardless of ability to pay. Services also include Court Advocacy and a Legal Clinic.
Housing services foster independence and self-sufficiency for victims of domestic violence and women with developmental disabilities. There are two transitional housing programs, Barbara's House (short term, 3 - 6 month) and Next Step (long term, 1 - 2 years), as well as a Womanspace Residential Awareness Program (WRAP) which provides housing services to developmentally disabled women in supervised apartments and supportive living settings.
Education and Training works to develop a coordinated community response to domestic violence and sexual assault. Programs include Sexual Assault Advocacy and Response Team Training, Professional Training, Community Education, and Chaplaincy.
