Would you recommend Guiding Eyes for the Blind - Patterson & Yorktown?
As helping train dogs is one of the selfless acts that we can do to the society as dogs spread happiness and love. So I will indirectly be responsible for happiness of the society
The people running the program are very nice and it is for a great cause
Because I have a lot of friends who are interested in this field
I would because it helps people ways to help others
Raising a guide dog has been one of the most rewarding volunteer experiences we have ever had! Guiding Eyes provides training and resources, so even those without much experience raising dogs can learn. We have loved every minute!
I would recommend this website because it is a nice way to get involved with the community by helping out others. Also, helping out with community. I just think that more teens need to get involved, instead of sitting, playing video games, and eating 24/7.
Guiding Eyes for the Blind/Delmarva Region is always looking for great puppy raisers! Classes are starting soon in the Milford, DE / Easton, MD areas. I have been volunteering with Guiding Eyes for over five years now, and it has been one of the most rewarding things in my life. Raise a puppy, change a life.
My son (aged 15)and I raised a puppy for Guiding Eyes starting April 2009. He was wonderful for us as we had just lost our pet of 14 years Aja to cancer and we needed a fresh start. The support of the organization is fantastic from beginning to end. Our yellow lab finished his training in January 2011 and was matched to a blind woman from Illinois. We were able to attend his graduation and say good bye but I was never sad because I knew he would have a great life and really help her be as independent as possible. He had already protected her from a car backing up suddenly during the training! Now we have finished raising a second puppy and she may become a brood so we will continue to volunteer as a foster family. If you love dogs but can't afford all the expenses, GEB breeds the dogs (and they are superb animals) no cost for the puppy, pays all vet expenses and vaccinations. It is such a supportive community and you will make lots of dog loving friends.
i love dogs and to be given the oppertunity to help a person in need by doing somthing i love to do is awesome.
I joined guiding eyes for the blind as a puppy raiser during my freshmen year of high school. The experience with both people and dogs was just amazing. Everyone from volunteers to instructors are very willing to help with any questions you may have. The dogs are eager and willing to try new things and they teach you patience and understanding.
If you are looking for a chance to work with wonderful people and animals and do something that will truley enrich someone else's life Guiding Eyes is the perfect organization for you. It is a wonderful thing to watch a playful puppy grow up to lead someone to freedom.
I am having a great time raising puppies for Guiding Eyes for the Blind! My first puppy,a black lab, just passed his test to begin harness training in New York. I started raising my second pup this week. This a great opportunity for families or individuals who love to work with dogs and want to make a difference in someone else's life.
The volunteers that make up the Cuyahoga region of Guiding Eyes are a very informative, helpful, and friendly group of people. They are also very dedicated to raising the best puppies possible for Guiding Eyes. Being part of this group for the past year has been a wonderful and fulfilling experience for me.
Raising a dog to enable a blind individual to lead a better life has been a terrific way to volunteer. Guiding Eyes for the Blind has made this opportunity available by providing a specially bred puppy, quality support, on-going training classes, answers to questions, and many supplies. Our family has found that the GEB-bred puppy fits into our home and schedule and that all of our family members have taken a share in training and raising him even though our 15-yr-old is the primary raiser. I have been amazed at how much information the coordinators of GEB Cuyahoga have provided to us, and the patience they have shown with raisers and dogs is incredible. Questions and concerns we have had are answered promptly and cheerfully. What a great experience we are having!
