Meaningful. Satisfying. Inspiring. Volunteer for one of the oldest and largest non-profit hospice providers. Provide companionship to isolated patients and support to overworked caregivers in their homes, care homes and nursing facilities. You are assigned one-on one with a patient who you visit regularly through the end of the patient' life. Through life review, sharing music or art, reading, walking, talking and sitting in silence you bond with remarkable individuals, share their humor and courage, experience the history of our diverse community, and bear witness to the most profound moments of another's life. Our next training classes are starting soon. As an equal member of a professsional hospice team training is required as well as on-going learning. The typical committment is about three to four hours per week and we ask you to commit to one year of service. Times and hours are very flexible. Volunteers are needed 7 days a week and all hours. Hospice volunteering is not for everyone. If you are a good listener and drawn to the end of life experience, please joins us and make memories that last a lifetime. Many other types of volunteer opportunities are also available. Please see our web site at www.pathwayshealth.org and/or call 408-773-4271 for more information. Pathways is one of the Bay Area pioneers of hospice service and unlike some hospices, is a non-profit so your service allows us to provide additional support and services to those in need.

Inspiring. Meaningful. Life-changing. We're one of the Bay Area's oldest & largest non-profit hospices. We work with volunteers to conveniently place you and your pet on assignments near your home! Patients and families benefit from this program by showing signs of reduced stress and improved mood. Is the Pathways pet-assisted volunteer program right for you and your pet? Does your pet have the right temperament to work with hospice patients? Is he/she calm, gentle and alert? Can your pet follow basic commands? Will you invest time in a pet-assisted activities training and certification course? Are you able to commit to at least one year as a volunteer for Pathways? If so, please contact us at (408) 773-4271 or volunteerservices@commonspirit.org We look forward to meeting you and your beloved pet!
