The warehouse gets packed with donations from the community daily, and volunteers are needed at our Connie Crosby Family Center to help sort and organize those donations! In order to ensure that we keep every volunteer busy for the requested time, groups must have 5 volunteers or less.

This opportunity invites individuals and small community groups to serve breakfast, lunch, or dinner for 2 hours shifts at the Gail Miller Resource Center, opperated by The Road Home. You will assist kitchen staff in preparing and serving meals, preparing to-go meals for on the move guests, cleaning the kitchen, doing dishes, and more. Volunteer opportunities are available everyday from 7:30 am-9:30 am (breakfast), 11:30am-1:30pm (lunch), and 4:30pm-6:30pm (dinner). We can accommodate up to 5 volunteers during all shifts. Meal Service Guidelines Volunteers must be at least 12 years old to serve meals To ensure the privacy of the people we serve, photos/videos with shelter guests are not permitted at any time. Please reach out for specific photo guidelines. For safety, volunteers must wear closed toed shoes. Volunteering in the kitchen does not require a food handlers permit Cancellations: If you need to cancel your shift, please do so at least 24 hours in advance. This opportunity invites individuals to volunteer at our facility by helping with the donations dropped off at our warehouse. In order to ensure that we keep every volunteer busy for the requested time, groups must have 5 volunteers or less. Volunteers need to be at least 12 years old (with adequate adult supervision). This opportunity invites individuals and small community groups to volunteer at the Pamela Atkinson Resource Center, operated by The Road Home. Volunteers will help with meal prep and service for up to 300 men, who are experiencing homelessness. Our kitchen facility can accommodate 6 volunteers at a time with plenty of tasks to keep everyone busy. Listed below is an overview of our program and helpful tips to prepare you for this engaging service opportunity. Meal Service Tasks Please arrive on time to ensure we are able to serve meals on time Serving: Meal line service (place entrée on the clients’ plates) Stocking: Replenish utensils, plates, bowls and cups as needed Dishes: Perform routine dishwashing procedures (load and unload dishwasher, put away and restock clean dishes and utensils) Clean-up: Breakdown assigned kitchen areas (clean and sanitize countertops & prep stations, empty garbage and recycling bins) Meal Service Guidelines Meal volunteers must be at least 12 years old to be in the kitchen To ensure the privacy of the people we serve, photos/videos with shelter guests are not permitted at any time.
