Volunteer Reports to: Empowerment Resource Center Manager Summary: The role of our Empowerment Resource Center Store Volunteer is to create a welcoming atmosphere by providing a dignified and respectful experience through upholding A Precious Child's core values and mission. Children and families shop in our Resource Center, which is set up like a retail store, for clothing items and essential needs items, all provided at no charge from donations. This position assists clients during their shopping visit, replenishes and organizes areas throughout the store and checks out clients. Responsibilities: Stock Resource Center floor. Checkout clients. Help by assisting as a personal shopper. Help maintain a clean Resource Center and ensure it is ready for clients. Advise Resource Center Director of any potential dangerous situations. Bring shopping carts inside. Requirements: Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds. Be on their feet for long periods of time, if not the full shift. Be welcoming to volunteers, staff, and all clients. Able to multitask. Be detail oriented. Training & Supervision: Complete Volunteer Waiver Form. Training will be provided by Resource Center Team. Time Commitment: Shifts available Monday-Friday 9:00AM-5:00PM in 2 hour increments. Summary: The role of our Empowerment Resource Center Store Lead Volunteers is to create a welcoming atmosphere by providing a dignified and respectful experience through upholding A Precious Child's core values and mission. Children and families shop in our Empowerment Resource Center Store, which provides clothing, home goods, food and other essential items at no charge to the families we serve. This position supports with client check outs, helps with volunteer management, assists clients during their shopping visit, and replenishes and organizes areas throughout the store. Responsibilities: Run client check outs as families finish shopping. Assist the Empowerment Resource Center Manager with volunteer management. Ensure both the Donation Center and Resource Center needs are being met. Support with inventory management. Help maintain a clean Resource Center and ensure it is ready for clients. Assist as a personal shopper for clients when needed. Communicate with Resource Manager at all times. Create a safe space for clients and volunteers. Requirements: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds. Be on feet for long periods of time. Have a friendly demeanor towards other volunteers, staff, and all clients. Ability to multitask. Be detail oriented. Must be 16 years of age or older. Training & Supervision: Complete Volunteer Waiver and Orientation. Participate in client checkout and Captain software training. All training will be provided by Empowerment Resource Center Manager. Time Commitment: Shifts are available Monday-Friday between 9:00AM-5:00PM in 2 hour increments. Must be able to commit to 1 shift per week. Mentor Reports to: Precious Mentor Manager Summary: The role of our Precious Mentors is to support at-risk middle and high school students in their social and emotional development, academic achievement and workforce readiness. Mentors will meet with their mentees in the community and virtually. Responsibilities: Can dedicate at least one year to their mentee. Can dedicate 8 hours per month to meet with their mentees. Commit to being a positive role model and having a positive attitude with your mentee. Use provided curriculum to assist in Social and Emotional Development, Academic Achievement and Workforce Readiness. Work to connect with your mentee, understand the struggles your mentee is facing and offer support through good and challenging times. Work with mentee’s parents/guardians to understand their concerns for their children. Be willing to plan fun and engaging activities with your mentee. Attend additional special events hosted by A Precious Child in regards to the Mentor Program. Provide positive guidance and constructive feedback for the program. Requirements: Must complete Volunteer Orientation with Volunteer Team. Must have Volunteer Waiver Form. Must complete a background check and fingerprinting. You must be at least 25 years of age. Must be living in one of A Precious Child’s eight county service areas. We cannot accept applicants with a felony on their record. We cannot accept applicants with a violent crime or crime against a child on their record. If you have a DUI on your record, 5 years must have passed since completing your probation. If you have a history of drug/alcohol abuse, you must have at least 5 years of sobriety and/or abstinence. Training & Supervision: Precious Mentor Manager and additional A Precious Child personnel will provide initial training and orientation. Mandatory trainings quarterly. Weekly check-ins with staff during the first few months then monthly check-ins after. Time Commitment: Can 8 hours per month to meet with their mentee. Mentors must be able to commit to one year with their mentee. A longer commitment is encouraged. Benefits: Connect with a child in need and help them grow their skills and improve academically. Help prepare a child for their future career and expand their understanding of the workforce. Cultivate leadership, organizational and self-management skills.

Volunteer Reports to: Donation Center Team Summary: The role of our Donation Center Volunteer is to create a welcoming atmosphere by providing a dignified and respectful experience through upholding A Precious Child's core values and mission. Donation Center volunteers help to process incoming community donations and prepare them for our Resource Center to distribute to families. Children and families shop in our Resource Center, which is set up like a retail store, for clothing items and basic essentials, all provided at no charge. Duties & Responsibilities: Help organize, sort and hang donations. Welcome donors and help unload their donations. Notify staff of any potential safety hazards within the Donation Center. Work in a team setting to accomplish daily tasks and meet the needs of our families. Requirements: Volunteers ages 5-12 are able to volunteer with an adult. Volunteers ages 13 and up are able to volunteer on their own. Must wear close toed shoes for every shift. Have a friendly and welcoming demeanor to clients, volunteers, donors and staff. Respect and maintain confidentiality of A Precious Child clients, volunteers, partners, and donors. Training & Supervision: Complete Volunteer Waiver Form. Training will be provided by Donation Center Staff Team. Time Commitment: Shifts are available Monday - Friday, 9:00AM-5:00PM. Second and Third Saturday of the month from 9:00AM-12:00PM and Second Thursday and Third Wednesday of the month from 5:00PM-7:00PM. Volunteers will sign up for a shift through our online form.
