Mission Statement
Habitat for Humanity Sierra Vista Area (HFHSVA) is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. Habitat works in partnership with people, from all walks of life, to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need, Habitat's partner families, at no profit and with no interest charged. Partner families invest hundreds of hours of their own labor -- sweat equity -- into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses.
Description
Habitat for Humanity Sierra Vista Area (HFHSVA) builds highly energy-efficient affordable homes in the Sierra Vista area. We are located in Cochise County Arizona, a rural area in the southeastern part of the state, bordering Mexico.
We also rehabilitate existing housing stock in order to assist more families. A new program being started is 'A Brush with Kindness', which will enable us to work in partnership with low-income, senior and/or disabled home-owners and make needed repairs to their homes.
Love a bargain?? Who doesn't!! Come shop at our Habitat ReStore. We're located on Myer Dr, between 2nd and 7th Streets. in Sierra Vista (520-458-0016). The ReStore is a first class second hand store, selling donated new and used building materials and household items. Two things to note: ReStores are a boon to the environment as they keep usable product out of our burgeoning landfills, AND, profits from the ReStore cover all administration and overhead costs, enabling monetary donations and grants to go towards our mission of eliminating poverty housing, one family at a time.
ReStore hours: Monday-closed. Tuesday-Saturday. & 9:30-5:30 Or, call us at 520-458-0016 to schedule a free pick-up of merchandise you no longer need. Ask about volunteering opportunities!!
